Headers?
FORDTRK,
yes you will need to get the chip re-programmed with the header program. When you install the headers, it will lower you Air/Fuel Ratio because the headers help scavage the pistons more with also pulls some of the a/f mix will both valves are open for that split second. The header program will increase the amount of fuel entering the system which increases the A/F ratio. I am just waiting for Mike to get my program ready and I will be sending my chip in for the upgrade. I noticed in the engines section that you may be doing some other stuff to the truck. IF and I mean If you are changing things like the MAF, throttle body size or things along that idea. You may wish to wait and do most of that all at once since the chip will need to changed with each new mod. If you are just going to put pulleys, electric fans, etc ... things that actually don't allow more air in or out of the engine that you are okay with just the header program.
I am sure Mike T. will along shortly and correct any of my errors should there be any.
Oh Mike, sorry to hear about your weekend with all of the rain, etc. There is always next year and besides sounds like everyone had a good time anyhow.

Hi FORDTRK,
IzzyEddy & the others are right on the money in their replies, for the headers you'll want to have the custom tuning done due to headers increasing the scavenging effect that helps to pull the spent gases out of the cylinder head causing a lean condition. Not *bad* lean, but lean enough to require correction to get the full power gain possible from the headers, so that should ideally always be done when installing headers.
When you have say, an intake kit like you have, a good cat-back exhaust and the Superchip, adding headers into that mix will definitely push the system leaner than it can compensate for on it's own during closed-loop operation, as the factory O2 sensors are very narrow band, and during open-loop it needs more fuel as well.
So no on tuning for your intake, but yes on tuning for headers.
IzzyEddy should already have had his new program by now, come to think of it, so we'll check on that ASAP & give you a call to get your Superchip in here for the new program, Dean!

Thanks Mike. Didn't mean any ill feeling there,
just getting ahead of any questions to me about the chip upgrade and what I thought about it. I realize you are a very busy man.
Besides you just got back from a big weekend. Didn't want to bother you ... you would have gotten back to me when it came in.

Hi FORDTRK,
The policies of F-150 Online prohibit the discussion of pricing here on the boards, so we cannot quote that here, my apologies.
If you'd like to give us a quick pjhone call (fastest), or shoot us an email (slower), we'll be happy to provide that info for you. If you email us with that question, please include your name & vehicle info (year, make, model, engine size, & computer code) along with your specific question(s), so we'll know who we're talking to & what vehicle we're talking about, along with exactly what modifications need to be tuned for, as well as what modifications are already on the vehicle, etc., thanks!
It's best to call us as you'll get an answer much quicker that way, and that will also give us the opportunity to go over all the mods currently on the vehicle as well as what other modifications you're thinking about in thorough detail, so we can let you know what will and what will not require custom tuning, etc., & that way you can plan on everything properly in advance.
Talk to you soon!
