Which one?
Which one?
I was looking on the website where you can order the Superchip and was wondering which one I should get for a 02' H-D truck. Flip Chip 87 & 92 Octane Combination or Ford F-Series with Gasoline Engine?
Dave,
I can't tell you which one to buy, I can tell you I have the single program chip and have had it installed for exactly 7 months,(installed Christmas morning). I worried about not getting the flip chip for a few weeks, even talked to Mike about trading a single for a flip. I have not had any reason to remove my chip, the price of fuel doesn't warrant using 87 as opposed to 93. Unless your really concerned about the price of gas don't bother with a flip chip and remember, the flip is more expensive so any fuel cost savings will have to wait until you make up for the difference between the chips. Just my $0.02 .........Sorry Mike

Hello Gentlemen,
Actually, the 2002 HD model is a supercharged F-150, using the same supercharged engine as comes in the Lightning, with little less boost, 6 PSI versus 8 PSI in the Lightning.
The deal is, this supercharged engine cannot *ever* be run on anything less than high quality 91 octane or higher premium gas even from the factory, so there is no option to run it on cheap low-grade fuel to begin with.
Because it is a supercharged engine, we strongly recommend using the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip, so that you have a full performance program as well as a more conservative mode to protect the supercharged engine should you get a bad tank of gas somewhere, etc. It happens, and with all forced induction motors we prefer to see a 2-program setup when possible.
However, that is not *required*, even with the supercharged Harley or the Lightning, you could use the single program Superchip. We encourage people not to, because it is a forced-induction (supercharged) engine we want to see more flexibility, this is not any kind of "must," you could in fact use a single-program Superchip. You will not be able to do any towing with either of the supercharged models (Lightnings or 2002 Harleys) using the single program Superchip, and you'll need to make sure to use only the best quality premium gasolines, no off-brands, none of the no-names, and no Exxon or Phillips 66. But as long as you stick to good fuel, you could use the single program Superchip for the F-150, as you get further into the online ordering system it will ask you for the computer code of your vehicle, which is EK01 for all 2002 Harleys (so far), and by virtue of that we'll know it's the supercharged Harley model. There is also a small text box where you can leave us a *short* message as well.
So it's up to you TMD, you can select either the sinfle program Superchip for the F-150, or you can select the Flip CHip for the Lightning.
Or, you can just give us a quick call if you prefer, and we'll be mroe than happy to go over all of this with you in detail. We suggest using the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip for best all around performance, flexibility & protection for that supercharged motor while allowing you to still be able to do everything that vehicle was designed to be able to do from the factory between those 2 programs. But if you never plan to tow or carry heavy loads, etc., and will alwayas have access to good quality fuel, then you could use the single program Superchip.
I hope we've managed to make this a little clearer for you, & please don't hesitate to call us if you're not sure, or just want to talk about this, etc.
Congratulations on that truck, those '02 Harleys are beautiful & functional supercharged beasts!
