Fuel Change

Are there any good chips that do not require the use of premium gas after installation?

Hi Redneck Ford,

Well, what has to be remembered here is that the way that raw engine power is increased by any performance chip is by retuning the engine specifically for the use of good quality fuel, so if you want any signficant power gains via powertrain programming, you'll have to step up and use better fuel.

It only costs a maximum of $100 per 10,000 miles driven to use the Superchip on premium gas all the time, compared to the fuel costs of running on the factory program on 87 octane. So for most people, it's not more than $2-$3 a week more for gas driving 15,000 - 20,000 miles per year. This assumes a 20 cent per gallon cost delta between 87 & premuum and a 50-50 mix of city & highway driving. The fuel cost analysis has been done many, many times.

All of that having been said, if you want a performance chip for use on 87 octane gasoline, we can do that for you, too. You'll have a significantly smaller raw power gain from the engine, but all the rest of the benefits would be there, such as removal of variuous delays & retards, and then a small raw power gain, so the vehicle will still perform better and be more responsive than with the factory program. Just give us a call at our number listed below & we'll be happy to go over this with you.
