98Screamer,

Thanks. The new rims I picked up in CA., are the oem rims like the ones you have in your pics. Some guy had them triple chrome plated. They look awesome.

Glat to hear that all went well. Hope you had a relaxing vacation!

Wittom,

Thanks. This was my first "real" family vaction since since I was a young boy. However, I felt like a young boy on this trip..ha!

Went to Disney Land, L.A., Hollywood, beach, Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, and Grand Canyon. Drove through "Death Valley", Hwy 1, just missed a "storm burst" that took the roof off a hotel (that we tried to get a room in) in Kingman, AZ, as well as drove through a "storm burst" that caused some damage in AZ.

Taking the truck worked out well. We were able to take ice chests which cut down on travel costs. As well as packing all our clothes (wife's and daughters) in the bed allowed more room in the cab (ext. cab was perfect for 5 year old). The bed cover I installed before the trip was great, and I still had room in the bed to put the rims in.

Yet, it became very apparent that I need my supercharger installed and shorter tires for the mountain roads! Everything worked great and no one left me behind, but my trans. did "kick down" a lot. Maybe that is normal for a 5,000 plus vehicle loaded down with tall tires? I don't know. I have only driven a harley through the mountains.

I would really like to put some pics on this site. But, I do not have a digital camera.

Today, I am going to change the oil/filter and trans. filter/fluid and fluid. Don't know if I will do the trans. filter/fluid myself. I have installed many transmissions, but they were all $75. salvage yard specials....ha!

Iron Horse, glad to hear you had a good time!

The supercharger makes a good difference! I went up to Maine this weekend (about a 4 hr drive) and it is a breeze up hill, down hill, manuvering on the crowded highways, just all around a pleasure to drive! I don't think you will need to kick it down as much, but you will probably want to!

You don't need a digital camera to get some pics here. When you get your film developed have them put them on a disk too. It costs something like ten bucks, its worth it! Thats how I did it at first. I just recently got a (cheap!) digital camera.

Wittom,

Was going to post the web address for the ebay auction for my rims. The address will not access the page for some reason. However you can see the rims in Ebay Motors Parts & Accessories: Parts: Cars & Trucks: Wheels and Tires: item # 1839449500

Tonight after work, I will add the web address for a picture of the rim chrome plated. However it will be from AAA Rims. Good picture but they are very high priced.

Wittom,

Here is the web address for a picture of the chromed oem rims I got. It is from AAA Rims. They want 165+135 (chroming) for a total of $300.00 per rim (without shipping)!?! Too high priced for me.

http://aaarims.com/chrome/3196.html

Although, the picture states that they are only available at AAA Rims, this is not true. Victoria tire has the same chromed F-150 oem rim for $139.00 per rim (without shipping). Web addess for specific page is far too long, however, if you go to www.victoriatire.com and go to the Ford section you will find the rims.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Iron Horse.

They do look real cool. Unless they enhance performance (and a good amount @1200) I cannot justify the cost. I'm really not sure I would add chrome to my "no chrome" truck.
I still have a ways to go before I start spending $$$ on appearance mods!

Wittom,

I know exactly what you mean. I have went "overboard on performance and exterior mods. But, at Victoria Tire the same rims are 139.00x4= $556.00 for all 4 chromed rims. It is about 80 for shipping.

I found prices of $89. to 150. per rim to have oem rims chromed.
However, some places will charge you a core charge and or you must incurr shipping costs several times.

I just lucked out on finding these rims on ebay.
