Superchip Warranty ?
I see through some past posts that Superchip carries a lifetime warranty - question is, what are the specifics of this warranty? Is it just a failure with replacement type warranty or is customer satisfaction covered? Would like to know what is the scenario if a customer buys the chip and is just not happy with it. Also, is there a need to change the thermostat with the Superchip? I seem to remember seeing something on that in the forum archives. Thanks for any answers.
Are you unsatisfied with your chip? just wondering cuz I'm thinking about getting one, but if you aren't satisfied. I heard there needed to be a thermostat change but let MIKE answer that one for ya'.

It's the best $225 (+10 shipping) you'll ever spend on your truck!. No doubt about it. I don't know about the specifics of your warranty questions, but you won't care, especially if you have an automatic transmission. The SuperChip makes the tranny feel as if you have rebuilt it and added a shift kit compared to the factory settings.
No, you do not have to change the thermostat. I think that is with the hypertech brand of chip.
All I can say is "GO FOR IT! ". You will not regret it. It was the best "bang for the buck" I have ever spent for a vehicle........ever.
P.S. In addition to the performance quality of the chip, the quality of Mike's and Anita's customer support is unparalleled in the market, in my humble opinion. I feel that they will assist you in any way they can. I have seen Mike reply to ppl to help them with their chip questions/concerns when the chip they own was not even purchased from Performance Parts. Fantastic product and people.
...........and no, I did not recieve any compensation for this endorsement of the product in question........dadgummit!
Good Luck with your truck.

Hi Spanky,
First, the policies of F-150 Online prohibit the discussion or posting of prices here on the message boards, that is done to keep blatant commercial content off the message boards, & thanks in advance for your cooperation on that.
A Lifetime warranty is exactly that, a Lifetime warranty, that's that means if anything ever goes wrong with it, it will be repaired or replaced as required to correct the problem (which happens rarely, by the way) for as long as you own that Superchip. This also includes if you trade in your vehicle for another vehicle that we can reprogram that Superchip to be used on, your Lifetime warranty on the Superchip continues.
It's important that you have a realistic expectation of what the Superchip can do, that is perhaps the single most important issue to consider upfront. It's not going to feel like a supercharger, and it's not going to turn a 2.5-3 ton truck into a performance vehicle, not by a long shot. It's simply the most performance improvement you can get for the lowest cost, which is why it's so popular, it's the single most cost-effective performance enhancement you can make to the vehicle. It's all about bang-for-the-buck, and that's where the Superchip excels, as nothing else can deliver it's performance gains for it's low cost.
In round numbers, think of the Superchip as a 10%-12% power-gainer, and that's basically what it's going to make the vehicle feel like, as if you picked up about 10%-12% more motor under the hood, so to speak, a great bang for the buck value.
If you spend a little time reading the posts in this section, you'll quickly find many, many people using the Superchip for years, and virtually everyone who has one raves about it here. There isn't another product on the market that generates the ongoing enthusiam of it's owners like the Superchip does.
If you like, please feel free to give us a call, and we'll be happy to go over this with you in detail, tell you exaclty what you can expect, what the Superchip will do and what it won't do, etc. so you can give it some thought before making your decision. We do guarantee your satisfaction, and we are very well known for our service & support, as you'll quickly see here on the boards.

I can't imagine there is often a reason to use the "warranty" with a Superchip. I think if you buy it from a reputable vendor then you should have nothing to worry about. I guess, considering that this is a mass produced product, that there will be a "bad" one ocasionally. I would think these are few and far between. I have all the confidence in the world in the Superchip. I firmly believe I've gotten what I've paid for!
One thing to keep in mind is the cost. You will get what you pay for. In fact I think you get more gain per dollar than almost any other mod. Though the price is a good amount of money to most of us (me included), it is one of the lower priced performance enhancers. Like Mike said, a Superchip is not going to feel like a supercharger. No, and a supercharger will cost you more than ten times the cost of the Superchip.
The Superchip is great to make your truck more of a treat to drive, or a good place to start when modding these trucks. Just don't expect Earth shattering gains for a few hundred dollars and you will be quite pleased with the performance with a Superchip.
Have fun!

out of approx. 50 chips i have personally installed, I have seen 2 faulty ones. Superchips was fantastic in their tech support and no hassle warranty policy. And i've never had anyone use the 30-day money back guarantee either....all have been more than pleased.
The Superchip you asked about is defiantly a good add-on to any truck. I own a 2002 Lightning and installed one myself. Directions are good and fairly simple if you are mechanically inclined. I found that this chip did everything it claimed such as:
Better and firmer shifts, extra 200 R's before shifting ,meaning a higher speed for each gear, more horsepower and torgue as well as a MPG improvement from 12-13 to 14 to almost 15,(if I could keep my foot out of it), on the last tank of gas.
My best track time 9Only been once) out of seven runs was 13.16@104.42MPH. Not bad as I only have a drop in K7N and the chip. Felt proud to show my times to anyone. Do the Superchip as they give you more H.P and Torgue than any of the others that are available.
Remember- Drive It Like You Stole It!

Just to let you guys know, I ordered my Superchip on Monday before lunch - The big brown truck had it to me by Tuesday at lunch. Now thats fast service!!! (doesn't hurt to be less than 3 hrs away though) Either way, a pleasant experience to order from a professional group of folks. Now if I can get that nasty low octane out of my tank so I can install it. I will post and let you guys know how things turn out.
Maybe it will be - GET IN, SIT DOWN, SHUT UP & HOLD ON

Hi BigNick2002,
Welcome to F-150 Online!
The 99 & up supercharged Lightnings have always responded very well to the Superchip. And even with the Lightning, though we don't hear nearly as much about this because many of their owners aren't concerned with fuel mileage, you can indeed pick up some mpg gains, primarily when cruising. This is just a by-product of the increased timing on part-throttle, so cruising is when you have the best potential for increased mpg.
At one stage very early on in our 2001 Lightning's modifications, we saw almost 2 full mpg increase in highway mileage from the Superchip, though I'd have to say that is an above-average result for most Lightnings, if nothing else just because of how they tend to be driven.
We were deliberately driving it easy, just cruising, to see the highway mpg change.
Glad to hear you're enjoying your Superchip, and if you ever want to do any other modifications, or just talk about what can be done, etc. please feel free to give us a shout.
By the way, I see you are in Maryland and being that close, you might want to attend our 3rd annual F-150 Online National Rally, which will be the last weekend of July in the Tidewater area of Virginia (Virginia Beach & Norfolk). All the details will be posted here shortly by the Webmaster, so that everyone can see all that info centrally. It's 3 days of numerous events, some people attend all, some people only come in for the drag strip session, but everyone has a great time with their F-150's of all flavors, from the Lightnings to the ORP's, King Ranch, HD models, etc.
Thanks for your post & good luck with your Lightning!

Hi Spanky114,
Glad to see you got it the next day! We do try to get all orders out the same day if at all possible, so if you're close to us, you can end up seeing it the next day via UPS Ground.
On your current tank of fuel, what we recommend is to run that tank down until the low fuel light comes on (at that point you still have a minimum of 3.5 gallons left in the tank), then fill it up with your best local pump premium (Texaco, Amoco, Sunoco, etc., no off-brands or Exxon) and then install the Superchip.
On that first tank you won't see the absolute peak maximum performance due to a few gallons of lower octane being still in the system of course, and it will take a few hundred miles to get 100% from the Superchip as the ECU adapts to it's new programming. You'll still notice the performance improvements very quickly, within the first 20-50 miles, and then within 350-500 miles after installing the Superchip, usually somewhere on your second tank of premium, you'll be getting maximum benefits from it.
Have fun!
