Mike T., 86 hp increase without supercharger?

Mike T.,

In another thread in this section, you stated to TEBreon that, his K&N intake gave him a 14 hp GAIN and the Gibson exhaust gave him 12-14 MORE hp. Therefore, with those two (2) mods. alone, TEBreon has a 26 to 28 hp gain? Is that flywheel or rearwheel?

Then you tell TEBreon something I did not realize your organization can do, you state to him, "...we can provide you with bolt-on parts to add another easy 60 horsepower, to perhaps 70+ horsepower on top of what you have right now without having to step up to a supercharger..."

If you add these hp amounts you find: 14+12+60=86hp gain over stock without the use of a supercharger

86hp would be conservative as well. If You add the high numbers in your post, you find 14+14+70=98hp gain over stock without the use of a supercharger

Questions:

1. Would the 86 or 98 hp gains be at the fly or rearwheel?

2. To get this 86 to 98 hp gain, would it cost less or the same or more than a Magnasupercharger?

3. With the 4.6, if we use the low number of 86 (since you were originally discussing a 5.4) and a MagnaCharger gets you at least 80 hp that would be a total increase of 166 hp! If your 4.6 had 226 hp that would mean a total of 392!!!! The latest stock Lightnings have 380 hp, therefore I could generate as much or more hp with my 4.6, than a stock late model Lightning can?

4. Am I mixing fly wheel numbers with rearwheel numbers?

5. Is any of these mods. NPP? If not, will NPP provide even more gains?

6. I guess I need to call you to go over the details and pricing?

7. Is this too many questions and is this why we should just call you instead? ha!

Hi Iron Horse,

Easy, big fella!

First, while I do not remember all the details of that post specifically as I deal with far too many to remember, I can tell you that we're usually talking *flywheel* numbers here most of the time, as well as in that particular post. We do that so people will have a number they can use to compare to their original factory rating, which is also expressed at the flywheel.

There are indeed significant power gains that can be had by installing a large selection of bolt-ons to these late-model F-150's, Expeditions, etc. Doing things like a good intake, exhaust, headers, underdrive pulleys, converting to electric cooling fans, larger MAF (mass airflow meter), TB (throttle body), larger injectors and a custom-programmed Superchip to tie it all together can make very significant power gains without going with a supercharger.

If memory serves, the point of that post was just to try and let that person know that they didn't need to dispair just because they can't go out and drop $4k-$5K on a supercharger, that anyone can in fact make very significant power gains on these late-models with proper selection of a complete suite of bolt-ons.

As always, you'll need to call us for details and pricing, us a shout & we'll go over all of this with you.
