Computer Chip???
Hey All,
I am thinking about getting a computer chip but i have no clue about them except that they give a nice power upgrade. What is th best chip for the money? What are the prices of a good chip installed and what is a good place to get one installed???

Spend a little time reading the message boards right here in the Computer Chips section, and you'll quickly find a wealth of information.
The Superchip is doing the best job, and is what most people are using in their F-150's here as a result. Rather than sound like a commercial, I'd say you're better off just taking maybe 20-30 minutes and reading thru some of these threads, to see what those who have spent their hard-earned money on the Superchip have to say about it.
With regard to costs, it is against the policieds of F-150 Online to disucss pricing here on the message boards, to keep them clear of what is considered commercial content. If you would shoot us an email or would like to call, we'll be happy to get you that info ASAP. You can also get an idea of pricing by dropping by our online ordering system, and there is a link just below in our signature line that will take you there so you can see that information.
If you would like to go over any details, please feel free to get in touch with us, and we'll be more than happy to answer any questions, and go over with you exactly what you can expect from the Superchip, and how it compares to other performance chips.
Briefly, Superchips is the only chip manufacturer that tunes the engine for maximum horsepower and torque at all throttle positions (instead of only at very heavy throttle as most other chips are made), and is still 50-state emissions certified, no other chipmaker offers that. The Superchip gives the largest safe and sustainable power gains and best driveability. It is generally considered to be the best bang for the buck modification to make to these F-150's, as it's the easiest & cheapest way to get a 10%-12% power gain.
Other chips are either not emissions certified, or if they are, they only tune the engine for more power in one area, where there are no emissions standrds to be met, which is only at extremely heavy to full throttle (open loop operation) in these F-150's. Most other chips are also compromised to run on all similar vehicles (I.E., one program for all 1998 4.6 automatics) instead of each one being made specifically for each individual vehicle's computer code, for each of the hundreds of different computer codes each model year in these F-15's like the Superchip is.
