I need a really good reason to purchase a Superchip Flip Chip
I need yall to sell me one. ITs a big price. And I sure as hell hope its woth the 300 bux for the flip chip. I have a 00 HD F150 that clatters and i want it to shift harder and run better.
A Superchip will make your truck run like it should have before Ford programmed thier marketing stragity into the powertrain control moduel. If they weren't so concerned about appealing to the masses, they could have given us better performance.
I think if you were to compare the Superchip to other performance upgrades you would see that the Superchip gives the best gains for the price. It's not that expensive if you figure that if you install a supercharger you will pay more than thirty dollars per hourse power gained. You will pay as little as half that per horse power gained with the Superchip.(feel free to correct me if I am wrong) The Superchip is also probably the least invasive upgrade you can do.
Why shoud you get a Superchip flip chip? Because it works!
Good luck!
Tom

Hi shanker,
You don't need the Flip Chip if more performance in a stock to lightly modified truck is what you're after, you can get that in the single program Superchip.
However, using the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip will give you a *lot* more flexibility and the ability to make even more power if you want to have us really push it, so to speak.
In the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip, we could for example do an all-out drag race-style program on one side, with literally every trick in the book to make that vehicle accelerate the absolute quickest when you nail the throttle, and then another program to allow you to do all your "normal" driving, anything from towing to you name it. That is just one example, we can do different kinds combinations, this will also depend on what your other modifications are, to a certain extent, as well.
Some people want the Flip Chip so they can have a dual octane capability, a program for premium gas on one side, and then a program they can still use 87 octane with on the other side. Just another example.
If you'd like to get a good idea of just what can really be done in the Flip Chip for your vehicle, give us a call, our contact info is below.

Hey suvdrvr,
If I could get 102 octane unleaded gasoline for $3.00 or less a gallon, I'd run nothing but 102 octane all the time and retune my engine to take advantage of it. I'm starting to drool just thinking of the boost levels I could run at 100+ octane!
Are you sure you're talking about 102 octane, or do you perhaps mean the normal premium gasoline at the pump, which is generally anywhere from 91 to 94 octane, depending on location and brand, just curious?
Unleaded gasoline, for that matter any gas that is above 94 octane is generally very expensive, and for 100+ octane, the cost is usually $4+ per gallon, making it far too expensive to be practical.
If you're able to get 100+ octane unleaded gasoline for that kind of price, that's fantastic, you lucky rascal!

Hey Mike, how does your SuperChip compares to HyperTech's programmer? I'm thinking of buying theirs since with their solution I don't have to pull out a chip out of the truck computer before taking it to the dealer for service and then install it back again afterwards.
Hi eandres,
The Superchip is significantly different, and superior to the Hypertech in it's approach to optimizing the powertrain program. The program in each Superchip is made for each specific vehicle, to precisely match the exact software revision in each individual vehicle's ECU, not compromised to run on all similar vehicles as Hypertech is.
Also, Hypertech, like most other chipmakers, only tunes the engine for more power during open loop operation, where there are no emissions standards that have to be met; the rest of the time there is no change to engine tuning for power gain, so you get no improvement in power. You get what power the Hypertech unit delivers only when you're operating at extremely heavy to full throttle in these F-150's, is the end result. It's cheaper and much easier for the tuners to do it that way, but yields a much less desirable result.
With the Superchip, it's working *all* the time, not just at any rpm, but more importantly, at any throttle position, even when cruising. The Superchip adds maximum horsepower and torque at any throttle position, all the time, in any situation, and is still 50 state CARB & EPA emissions certified. In fact, no other chipmaker besides Superchips offers tuning at all throttle positions and 50-state emissions certifications too.
With the Superchip you get noticeably better power and performance gains than with Hypertech, and you get them all the time, not just some of the time.
One other point I'd like to make, regardless of which unit you decide on, even with the Hypertech unit we recommended going back to the stock program before going in for service, in case diagnostics need to be done. That is not an absolute *must*, don't get me wrong, but it's something we highly recommend, for diagnostic purposes you always want the ECU in stock trim and running on the factory program. Besides, it's easy to do. With the Superchip it only takes 6 minutes to remove the Superchip and clear the ECU to fully prepare the vehicle for immediate service. With the Hypertech unit, it takes only about 10 to 15 minutes to change the program via the OBD-II port. The point being, with either product it's not a problem to go back to the factory program for service, and then back to the performance program once you've left, so whichever unit you pick we suggest you go back to stock for anything other than oil-change type of service visits. It's not like you go in for service frequently, and you don't need to remove it for things like oil changes or tire rotations, etc.
Most of Hypertechs products also require the use of an abnormally cold thermostat, something we suggest you not do; stick with your factory thermostat, your engine will make it's best power and get its best fuel mileage at a coolant temperature of about 200-210 degrees.
I understand your desire for convenience.
However, if you're going to change the powertrain program, we suggest looking at what is really most important, and that is the actual quality of the powertrain program and the end results, what actually happens to the performance of the vehicle, not the type of device delivering the program. It's the end result that you're doing the modification for in the first place.
If you spend some time reading these message boards, you'll quickly find that most people are using the Superchip, and there's a reason for that. Among those who have actually used both products on the same vehicle, the Superchip has always been preferred.
The bottom line is, the only thing that matters here is what *you* think, and what matters most to you; we express our opinion, and how we feel, but you may feel differently, or have different priorities. To us, we don't care what name is on the box, what we care about is how the vehicle responds when the product is installed, everything else is immaterial, it's about performance. If Hypertech offered superior powertrain programming, we'd be selling their products instead. We use and recommend Superchips tuning simply because they are producing the best optimization of the powertrain program.

Best of luck whatever you decide!
