PCM location
Hi, I am new to the F150 scene and I have a question. I used to have a 97 F250 4x4 with the PSD, I have the Superchips Gold chip with the Extreme program. I am having reflashed to work with the 5.4 in my SuperCrew. Where is the PCM??!!?!? The one in my old truck was easy to find and access, but I can't the one in the new truck. Any DETAILED information on how to find it would be appreciated, this site is great, very much like Ford-Diesel.com.
Hi Doo Dah,
Welcome to F-150 Online!
To answer your question, in the 1997 & newer F-150, the ECU is located on the passenger side inside the cabin, just above the passenger's kick panel. The wiring harness connection is under the hood, right behind the battery. The wiring harness and the ECU itself look identical to what you had in your SuperDuty truck, and the installation of the Superchip is the same as well.
The gold Superchip works only on the PSD's & V-10's, for these F-150's the blue Superchip module is required. If you run into that issue and need a hand, give us a call.
Good luck!

Thanks Mike! I bought the chip originally from Diesel Injection Service in Lubbock Tx. They will reprogram the chip to work with the gas engine but said it could never be re-programmed to diesel. I don't plan on ever getting rid of the SuperCrew so no problem. My next diesel will be a Cummins anyway.
Aw c'mon now
I had the 250 for 4 whole years! Anyway my Super Crew can kick your Expedition's.............
This is my first truck with 4 doors and it keeps me from thinking about my diesel, except when I hit the throttle, then I miss the diesel! You going to be in town this weekend?
