Talking Chip installed. I like!

Just installed my superchip. THE most straightforward instructions I've ever followed. No surprises whatsoever. Took a little longer because I had to unseat the the battery and tray but other than that, no problems.

I've noticed a difference in the shift response. Nice improvement but nothing to knock me over (waiting for Magnacharger for that). Hoping greater improvements with full tank of 92 octane.

Questions for Mike T or whoever might know the answer. The big gas brands around here are BP, Shell, Sunoco, Marathon, Citgo, Speedway. Does one have a higher energy content over the other?

Where could I go to get my vehicle on a dyno to see the true gains from stock to modified with the chip?

Last, Mike T if I add an aftermarket cat-back system (Flowmaster, Gibson, Borla) will I need the chip reflashed? Do you recommend one over the other?

Thanks for the help!

Talking i can sorta answere your question...

congrats on the chip...you will like it more and more now doubt. i reset my computer and still noticed my performance improved once i got a couple hundred miles under my belt.

as for your gas question i do not know which brand is best. but i know that out here in california it does vary from brand to brand. mike told me cheveron was the best i could get here in socal. i assume it would be different from brand to brand out there as well.

good luck with your truck and your new chip!!

Hi Sean,

Among the brands of gas you mentioned, I would steer clear of BP, Marathon & Speedway, those usually have a lower energy content & not as good detergent additives.

Of all of them, I would choose the Sunoco Ultra 94 octane premium, followed by either Citgo or Shell.

Here in the Mid-Atlantic and much of the East, we're seeing that Citgo is doing a good job, and Shell is OK as well. That may be the case there where you are as well.

No, we do not need to do any custom programming for a cat-back exhaust, or for things like a K&N, S&B or AFE air filter, any of the numerous airbox elimination kits (Air Force One, etc.), underdrive pulleys or electric fans.

You need custom programming for things like superchargers, nitrous, ported heads, cam changes, aftermarket MAF's (mass airflow meters), etc.

Have fun!

I have lucked out again. All this great and critical information being posted as I am about to install (tonight) my Superchip! In a couple of hours after work, I will be stopping by the Citgo station where I always buy gas to put my first tank of the highest octane they sell, which is super unleaded 91 octane. Then, onward to home to install the superchip.

Thanks for the help. Sunoco 94 is going for $1.65 this way (ouch) and Citgo 91 is about $1.50. Even with a mixture of half a tank of 87 and half a tank of 94, I beginning to really feel the difference with the chip. As I break it in, I expect even greater things and I can't to get a full tank of 94 in there.
