I wouldn't hold my breath right now, theymay or may not actually relaese something in that timeframe, they've been talikng about it for much longer and it was supposed to be released long before now. Most manufacturers have a habit of announcing things in advance and then it takes far longer for it to actually materialize in reality. Sometimes that is deliberate, and sometimes it's just natural and unavoidable, as you may run into a snag, or a setback, or a surprise of some kind, and that ends up increasing R&D time, very common.

The deal on actually being able to make program changes with that software is extremely limited. When we last spoke with them about this, it's thru a structured menu system, and only a few things within very narrowly predefined parameters can be altered, it's not like you'd be able to make your own program. This is because of the potential liability from someone who does not have real knowledge of engine tuning being able to do things that end up causing catastrophic engine damage, for example.

We'll just have to see how this one develops over time.

 

That's too bad, but I appreciate the insight. I'm not particularly in love with the idea of getting a Superchip and having to send it off for reburns periodically as the mods build up. Seems like that might be the best option though.
