question about chip and masirflow sensor

some one told me that if i decide to get a bigger air flow sensor, that the only chip that i would be able to get would be a jet chip. i have had a jet chip before on my ranger and i would rather use a superchip. was he wrong and that you have a chip for this mod.
please say that you do. i have a 2000 f150 4.2 liter v6. it has a airaid intake, jba headers, with 3inch. flowmaster.

thank you for any input that you might have on this delema.

Hi Mike,

We're glad you asked, because as you suspected, that information is not at all correct. That part will require custom programming however, so perhaps your friend or whoever told you that was just confused, or perhaps he was not given correct information by someone else.

What you will need to do with *any* performance chip when using an aftermarket MAF is to have the chip custom programmed to correct for the leanout of the A/F ratio that all aftermarket MAF's (mass airflow meters) cause when installed on these vehicles.

Since you also have headers, we should do the custom programming for that as well at the same time to get you a bit more power.

I don't know what your timeframe for doing this is, but just so you'll know, the pricing for custom programming is going up for orders placed after February 14th. The custom programming fee was actually increased on February 4th, but we're holding it thru to the 14th at the old pricing.

We'll need to have a completed custom program worksheet back from you (which we can FAX to you for speed) by the end of business on the 14th to get you in at the older pricing. We cannot quote pricing here on the boards, that is a violation of F-150 Online policies, so I'm just trying to give you a quick heads-up about that so you'll know. Please give us a quick call to get the pricing quotes so you'll know both the old & new pricing, if you like. Since you do not already have a Superchip, and because you will need custom programming, the smartest move financially would be to do this in the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip, simply because it's cost *includes* any custom programming needed at time of purchase, and so it will actually cost you less to get the 2-program chip custom programmed than it would the single program Superchip with custom programming. I know all this can be confusing, I'm just trying to let you know the best way to do this so it costs the least. The price of the Flip Chip will be going up for orders placed after the 14th as well, because it includes custom programming. So if you can get your custom program order into us by the 14th, you can get in at the old pricing, and if you can't, no problem, we can always do this whenever *you* are ready.

The bottom line is yes, we can easily tune for that part, as well as any other modifications you make to the vehicle that affect engine tuning. It's just that for that kind of part, any aftermarket MAF or even a larger factory MAF will have to have a custom program done for it to correct A/F's & some other issues.

Please feel free to give us a call if you'd like to go over this, and good luck with your truck!
