1. Top Speed
2. Low End (off-the-line accel.)
3. MPG
4. Top End (hwy boost)

I know you're going to get some good replies but here's my .02.

With Superchip you're getting improved power throughout the power band. You also get the great shift's etc. Some other chips only make a difference at WOT. I believe I've read from Mike that the Diablo also makes imporvements throughout the power band, but the consensous is that Superchip does it better.

Chips ain't chips just because they're called chips. Superchips!

Hi J.P.,

Family Ride's post makes a couple of good points.

The Superchip delivers maximum possible power at any rpm, and at any throttle position, so there is no inherent difference to what it adds to top end horsepower or low end horsepower other than the completely natural and unavoidable consequence of rpms. In round numbers, it adds about 10% more power at any throttle position or rpm, so it simply feels like you have about a 10% larger engine under the hood.

The primary important things in just about any aftermarket performance program are:

1.) That the performance program is made specifically for each individual vehicle, to match the exact software revision in each individual vehicle's ECU, and the F-150 has *hundreds* of different software revisions every model year. Only Superchips and Diablo do this, and only Superchips does this and is still 50-state emissions certified. The program also needs to take any modifications that affect tuning into consideration as well, of course.

2.) That the performance program fully optimize the engine tuning for maximum power *all* the time, at any throttle position, in addition to at any rpm. Again, only Superchips and Diablo do this, and only Superchips does that is is still 50-state emissions certified.

The others only tune the engine during what's called "open loop" operation, which is basically at extremely heavy throttle only, when you have your foot nailed hard on the gas. That means that for 95% to 98% of your driving time behind the wheel (anytime you're not hard on the gas), you get no power gain at all because the engine's tuning hasn't been changed! This is a little-known but extremely important factor.

3.) Maximum safe *sustainable* power gain - here Superchips wins hands down. Diablo is second, with about 2% less peak power in a number of their F-150 & Expedition applications, and about a 6-8 hp disadvantage below 3000 rpm in many of these F-150's & Expeditions, etc.

In all candor, you would probably be very happy with either the Diablo or the Superchip; we prefer and use the Superchip.

There is no other powertrain programming firm that has the experience, resources, engineering staff or sheer talent that Superchips has. Superchips invented the performance chip basically, and is the only chipmaker hired directly by the world's major automakers for assistance with everything from driveability issues to scratch R&D. That's kind of expertise & talent we want tuning our vehicles.

We do offer the Diablo simply to give people a choice between the only 2 chipmakers that tune each vehicle according to it's software revision and that tune the engine to add power all the time. Right now we're blowing the Diablo's out because everybody wants the Superchip and we want to move the inventory, so if you want to get into a Diablo, right now is the time.

If you would like to have the opportunity to go over this in more detail before you make your decision, please feel free to give us a call, we'll be happy to discuss this with you.
