Where is computer located?
Hi BBRANJEN,
I have a 2001 SuperCrew, The computer is on the passenger side, inside the cab, up under the dash, on the outside wall and firewall.
The harness goes through the firewall and the computer is removed by: taking out the battery, removing the battery box and one 10MM bolt that holds the harness to the computer.
Now, go back inside and remove the single clip that holds the computer to the bracket and low and behold....you are holding your ECM in your hand....
When you get the SuperChip from Mike, it comes with great directions and a few small tips that help you with a smooth install.

Hi BBRANJEN,
S'CrewLoose gave you an excellent response, the ECU is relatively easy to get to and quick to remove in these vehicles, 3 steps, 5 minutes basically.
The ECU is located inside the cabin, on the passenger side, just above the passenger's kick panel. It looks like a galvaniized aluminum box, rectangular in shape. The front 1/2" or so passes thru an opening in the firewall so it can connect to it's wiring harness, which happens under the hood right behind the battery.
You only have to remove the battery (an easy 5-minute deal at most) to access that wiring harness if you have the Offroad package (referred to as ORP around here) or if you have very large hands, otherwise you can easily access it.
We go over all of this in great detail in our supplemental Performance Products documentation on the Superchip, which we send out in addition to the manufacturer's instructions with every Superchip we ship for these vehicles here at Performance.
You won't have any trouble locating the ECU, removing it, installing the Superchip, etc. with our documentation, you'll find it's very thorough and written to take a first time installer thru this smoothly with no surprises.

Hi S'Crew................
Hmm, OK, so you have both the ORP *and* large hands and whatever else goes with that..........does that mean your wife is twice as happy as mine?
If so, I pray my wife never sees this post, as she thinks, well, never mind.....................let's just say she "trusts" me and my math and leave it at that!
