Would it be possible to have a custom (non flipchip) superchip that can use 87 octane? I hate the way my truck shifts and would love the improved shifting but I don't want to be bothered with having to run 93 octane and trying to explain to my wife why I have to run 93 octane all of a sudden.

The way to get a Superchip for use on 87 octane is in the 2-program Flip Chip.

We do not make single program Superchips for use on anything less than premium gas, because that defeats the purpose of a performance chip in the first place, which is to raise power first and foremost. There is minimal power gain available via powertrain programming on 87 octane in these vehicles, maybe 5 horsepower at best, so we only make an 87 octane program available in the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip.

 

How does it work? Is there an actual switch or do I have to get to the computer to change it back and forth?
