Superchip question?
Taking my truck skiing in Colorado and probably won't be able to get 93 octane fuel in the mountains. Should I pull the chip or is there a magical physics phenomenon that the altitude will compensate for allowing for a lower octane?
Would really like to leave it in, cuz I love it!

Hi GpFire,
You can almost always still get at least 91 octane premium gasolines even at higher altitudes. Every once in a while, you'll find a really high elevation (usually well above 7000 ft.) or location that you cannot get at least 91 octane in, but that is very rare. In that case, yes, you would want to pull the Superchip to avoid any potential for detonation.
Just make sure to use the better fuels, Texaco, Amoco, maybe Chevron, etc. or whatever you feel you get good results with, and you should do fine even with the 91 octane grades, and you should have access to them.
Have fun!
