Looking for a Chip for my 02 Ranger 4x4
Looking for a Chip for my 02 Ranger 4x4
I'm really new to these Chips so I need some info about them I did happen to hear about one Chip, I think it was called "Flip Chip" I liked the idea of being able to run it on 87octane but also being able to switch it to more of a performance chip when called for.
I don't know if Chips are made for Rangers but if their are I need some info about them.
Thanks for any help!

02RangerEdge, where about in Ontario do you live ???? We have people on here from Windsor, Sarnia, London, Toronto, Ottawa, etc., etc ....
The Flip-Chip is made by Superchips and can be purchased by either calling or e-mailing Mike Troyer. Really quickly, the chip improves the overall performance of the engine when using higher octane (91 & above) via fuel curves, timing adjustments, etc. AND if you have an automatic transmission it also increases the line pressure so you get firmer shifts. These firmer shifts help make the transmission bands last longer because they are not slipping as much as they are right now. I have had my chip in since March of 2001 and just love it. It was alittle un-nerving to be pumping almost 90 cent gas but it was well worth it for the extra HP & TQ the few times that I needed it. A definite "NEEDED" addition for my truck.
As you can see, I am just a little bigger and heavier than you. I am sure Mike will be around shortly to give you the low down on all the specifics of the chip. Let us know what you decide to do.

Hi 02RangerEdge,
Yes, we've always made Superchips for the Rangers too, just give us a quick call at our number below & we can go over all of that with you in detail for your particular Ranger.
In general, we've made the Superchip for every engine using a computer that the Ranger has ever had, from the 2.3 & 2.5 4-bangers to the various 2.8, 2.9 & 3.0 V-6's to both versions of the 4.0 V-6's.
They all respond just about the same, roughly about a 10% power gain when running on the premium gas program.
The 2-program Superchip Flip Chip is the one that you can use 87 octane gas with one of the programs, and then the other program requries premium gas, that's the program for maximum power of course.
Just give us a shout & we'll be happy to go over all of that with you!
