Question Mike- Question and Comment

Mike,
Very nice speaking with you over the phone, and your customer service was excellent. I look forward to recieving my chip early next week, and thank you for accomidating the COD charge. I did forget to ask you an unimportant (which is why I am not bothering you over the phone) question. How many times should I fill up with premium gas before I put in the chip. Texaco always had that "5th tank feeling" promo, so is that how much it takes to get out regular unleaded?
Also, whenever you get a chance, how much would it cost for the Air Force One intake, and the cleaning/oiling kit? You claimed 14hp for the K&N, and 18hp for the Air Force One. Are your claims based on dyno, or the manufacturers claims?

Thanks again Mike for all your service, and I look forward to dealing with you on our other cars (depending on how well this chip goes).

Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy!

My apologies, but we cannot discuss pricing here on the message boards as per the policies of F-150 Online, you will have to contact us privately for that information.

The *last* thing we ever do is to just take gain claims at face value. We are not like most operations that just sell brand after brand after brand of the exact same kinds of parts, anything to make a buck. Far too many operations are just "give me your money and sure, it'll add XX horsepower, the manufacturer says so. If it doesn't, take it up with them, we just sell 'em," so to speak.

We take the time to do the research to determine just which parts are actually worth spending money on, and have never sold a part that we weren't convinced was worth every penny of it's cost. In many cases, we know the design engineers involved in the development of the parts we sell personally.

When we recommend using a specific performance part, or decide upon what part to carry of a particular type, it's because we have taken the time to determine that it's either the best or one of the very best of it's kind; we don't assume, we don't guess, we *know*. That is why most people do business with us for years and years, as they have come to respect and trust us. That is something that we take very seriously, we couldn't ask for a higher honor. How we do business isn't perhaps very smart financially for us personally, but it is honest and rewarding, and we have a solid 98+% customer satisfaction rate as a result.

Just for one quick example, dynoing an airbox elimination kit is not easy or in the least bit fun, as it takes additional effort to get reliable numbers. All the dyno computer connections to the vehicle have to be re-routed thru the fenderwell instead of just run over the fenders & under the hood as would normally be done, because the hood has to be closed and airflow supplied to the front of the vehicle to get a result that actually reflects how the vehicle is operated.

I could go on forever, but that would just bore everyone to tears and sound like just another BS self-promotion.

Give us a quick call when you get a chance for the pricing info you need, or just shoot us an email & we'll be happy to get you that info ASAP.

2 Things-

Mike, there were 2 more questions that you didn't answer.

1- How many times do I have to fill up with premium gas before I can put in the chip (I don't mind waiting for 1-5 fillups, whichever is safest for the engine).

2- Are your claims based on dyno facts? You repeatedly said that you don't use the manufacturers claims, but you never said "Yes, our claims are based on dyno evidence that we did". Just a yes or no would be easiest on this, I trust Performance Products does their best to satisfy he consumer, but am just making sure.

Thanks again Mike,
Andy

Hello Andy,

What we suggest when getting ready to install a Superchip that is either on it's way or shortly to be ordered, is to just run your current tank of 87 octane down as low as you can *confortably*, without running the risk of running out of gas. When the low fuel light first comes on, you have anywhere from a minimum of 3.5 to as many as 6 gallons left in the system in these vehicles. The easy & safe way to do this without running out of gas is to just let it run down until the low fuel light comes on, then fill it up with premium, and *then* install the Superchip.

It is not necessary to run any number tanks of premium gas *prior* to installing the Superchip, you only need the premium in the tank once the Superchip has actually been installed.

With regard to whether or not we do any dyno testing, it should be obvious in my previous response, as I even went so far as to describe to you what a PITA it is to dyno an airbox elimination kit.

Very cool about the gas, that saves me some time to put that AWESOME chip in the truck. However, you not saying "yes" or "no" is kind of startling to me. I trust you, I just like written confirmation before I order something. So just saying yes or no to the "Do you dyno?" question would be very helpful in my decission.

Thanks again,
Andy

Yes, Andy, we do dyno testing, when appropriate, for certain parts.

Do you feel better now?

Do I feel better now? No, I feel worse. You keep choosing your words carefully, and not ever answering my question. All you would have to say is (you can copy and paste if you want to save time)-

Yes, we dyno tested the Airraid Intake, and got an 14 rwhp increase
Yes, we dyno tested the K&N Intake, and got an 14 rwhp increase
Yes, we dyno tested the Air Force 1 Intake, and got an 18 rwhp increase

Sorry for being a pain in the a.., but when I am spending literally hundreds of dollars, I like to know what I am getting. And I definately don't like claims unless they are accurate.

Thanks again Mike, and look forward to your reply,
Andy
