Pull the chip for service?
Pull the chip for service?
I'm taking the truck to the dealer tomorrow to get an exhaust leak fixed, and the oil changed. Do I need to pull the chip before getting it serviced for the above? or just for some engine related problem? I can't see why they would run the computer codes for a routine oil change and a small exhaust leak. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mitch

Depends on how mod-friendly your dealer is. There are some that have been known to look for a chip, others wouldn't know if it bit them in the face.
If in doubt, pull the chip. Two minutes of work.

Hi Mitch,
This is up to you, but we recommend removing the Superchip prior to service, just in case something comes up and they need to scan for error codes, etc., as if they need to scan for codes, you always want the ECU in stock trim, whether you're under warranty or not.
It takes all of 60 seconds to pull the Superchip, then 5 minutes to clear the ECU afterwards (that is a must by the way, so don't forget to clear the ECU after removing the Superchip using the procedure we specify in our documentation!), and you're all set.
Best of luck whatever you decide!

Well if it is a flip, it takes about 10 mins to take off and remember to KEEP the battery unplugged for 5 mins like mike said or the coed for the chip will still be left on the computer and you will be SOL.
