Screwed Superchip...

yes, thats right, I installed my superchip in my SuperCrew... and took her out for a test run...after warming up, did a WOT and a Half Throttle test.. MAN! worth every penny...

That Darned shift delay is GONE!..

Thanks Mike. The directions in the box make it sooo much easier... I had to pull my battery and batterybox to reach the 10mm bolt, the that was the yardest part (and that was real easy)... Cleaned the contacts, installed the chip, reinstalled everything, reprogrammed the ECU ( 5mins lights on, disconnect battery) ... and voila, fired up first itme, ran over to the gas station where I had a 4/5 empty tank...dropped in 20 gals of 93 Octane ( At $1.05 a gallon I might add... sheesh... Northern VA is sumpun cheap...).. and ran around 75 miles around town this morning...

Wahoo. Any of you debating doin gthis mod, it is VERY easy and worth every penny for just the shift improvement.. I can also feel a 'seat of the pants' Dyno improvement in power...

Lookin forward to many years of enjoyment with this mod... ( BTW, gotta go change my sig below...)

Thumbs up

I have to agree. Easily the best performance mod I've done to my truck so far and installation was a breeze.

Hi Mosa,

Glad to hear you're enjoying your Superchip, always nice to see another Superchipped Ford having fun!

It's nice when you can do something this cost-effective & easy to install to get such a nice improvement in performance, driveability, etc.

Thanks for your post & have fun!

I'm jeleous!!! Out here in California, we have 91 as the higest octane and our 91 right now is a $1.55 (cheapest Cheveron I found) all the way up to a $1.80!

That makes me sick when I hear how cheap BETTER gas is in other parts of the country, and here in California were much closer to refiners than a large majority of the rest of the country.

Oh well, I guess this is the "Sunshine" tax, where "We can charge more because everyone wants to live here" BTW I am a native San Diegan.

Hi dcovell,

Well, I wouldn't fret too much, as the Chevron you're getting there is generally better than 91 octane, much of it is still as high as 93 octane, according to unofficial sources at Chevron.

Remember that the octane label on your gas pump is the guaranteed *minimum* octane level, there's nothing that says they can't give you "extra" octane, though we all know that's pretty darned rare for any oil company to "give" anybody much of anything "extra", but it happens on occasion.

The point being, your "91" octane Chevron out there is just fine, and you can get great performance from it. We have many Lightning owners in California running high boost on Chevron's pump premium, so it's not as bad as you may think.

ya, I am a former californian myself...

born and raised... and when I return to visit the folks.. I am amazed at what I see with gas prices and the like...

only thing I really miss is the year round riding season for my motorcycle...

I am really shocked about the prices here in Northern VA.. since my last post, 93 octane has gone down to 98 cents...they are having a price war around my neighborhood... I drive 20 miles away to Manassas and prices are about 1.07 to 1.10... real strange,... ( not htat I'm complaining or anything... )
