Talking Installed Super Chip in my SCREW!

Well, I got my mechanic friend to help me out and got the whole thing done in under 30 minutes. I even have the off road package and had to take the battery out. It really isn't hard to do, the most difficult (and time consuming part) was the cleaning of the contacts as you really want to make sure that is done right.

Mike, thanks for being a great help as well, your added instrucions made it just that much easier, as this was the first time myself or my friend had ever installed a aftermarket chip.

Now for the results... I imediatly noticed the shift change (this is well worth the money just for the crisper shifting!) and the shifting is not hard, but the time delay is gone (finally!!!!)

The performance is better, I have really noticed the low end gain with the torqe being higher. I don't have to push as hard on the accelerator and hopefully will see some gas mileage improvements becasue of this.

The higher end has a noticable power increase but I haven't had the chance to try that out as much yet. I have done a few quick burst (OK all the way home) and the shifting is defianatly quicker.

I do like the shifting because when I want to pass someone, I can step on it and don't have to wait those few extra seconds for the transmission to drop down into the right gear. Now it's stomp, shift, pass. all in the time it took to stomp....................shift.......passss....

I put it in today and am impresed, I feel it is well worth my money, I do have to put in the 91 (Cheveron) but the extra money is worth the additional driving pleasure.

One thing that did scare me a bit, I was coming out of a parking lot today and steped on it a little to get ahead of traffic and to my suprise, my rear fish tailed all over the place. I may have hit some sand as there was a lot of construction in the area, but I will be more careful until I get used to this.

All in all I am really noticing the extra torque and the HP is coming along nicley as well.

PS
I have tried to spin my tires from a stop but with the 3.55 rear end, I can't do it on a level road going strait. Uphill a little on a turn is no problem though. The spining tire thing is not that improtiant but can be fun. Maybe I will get a diffrent rear end one of these days.

Most superchips owners get a decrease in miles per gallon.

Main reason: The pedal is always floored!

I'll second that!!! I think on my first tank I averaged 10mpg, down from 14. After the novelty wore off a bit, I did actually see what I think was better mileage. I was routinely getting 15.x, and even saw a 17.1 on one tank of mostly highway driving. This was on the old truck, 00 Scab w/4.6 and 4wd.

While I didn't buy it for a mileage increase, you can get it if you take it easy. It's also worth the money when you punch it on occasion.

After all's said and done, I did go through the effort to pull it out and have Mike re-program it for my 01 Screw 5.4L 4x4.

Can't wait to get it back and installed, I miss it.

That's pretty accurate; you can either keep your foot out of the throttle and usually see a little bit better mileage with good fuel quality, or grin from ear to ear as you floor it all over the place & see the mileage drop.

Most tend to be just as 10th posted, at first mileage drops as they're playing with the new performance levels and using a lot more throttle than they normally would, then after the novelty of a new go-fast part wears of in a few weeks, etc., driving tends to return to a more normal pace, as does mileage.

Well, I didn't buy it for the better mileage. And yes, I will be the barley getting 10MPG guy except maybe on long trips where I will stick it in cruise control and kick it.

Hell guys, if your only getting 10 mpg, maybe you should think of getting her blown?
I get about 11.5 - 12 mpg with that little mod.

Just came off a road trip, got 14.7 mpg freeway.

But just like you guys, I certainly did not get the chip for better fuel economy.

PS: spinning the tires from a stand still is no problem. (must be the weather here in Nor-Cal? (haha)

Well I was able to spin my tires (a lot) about 2 days ago. It rained here for the first time in 171 days in San Diego.

The road was super slick and my SCREW drove like a dream in it. Almost forgot what rained looked like and forgot how wet it made everything! HAAHAHAHHH

Can you say "fish-tail"
