Mike, you at Liberty?
Mike, you at Liberty?
The wife wants a chip for her ride.
2002 Jeep Liberty 3.6L Automatic
Is there one available?
What's the cost?
What kind of performance does it offer?
Would it be easy for me to install? I have never installed a computer chip in a vehicle.
Thanks.

Hi H13,
Congratulations on the new Jeep!
We're not currently offering a traditional "chip", for those vehicles, as the design of many of those computers is such that they don't lend themselves to the type of modification we do to all the 1990-1995 Mopars, add a chip socket on the board & add the performance chip that way.
Since it's so new they might not be available yet, but my first suggestion would be to check with your dealer to see if Mopar themselves is offering their Mopar Performance Computer for that particular vhiecle. Mopar makes a line of replacement "Performance Computers" for a number of their vehicles, including some of their trucks & SUV's with gas and diesel engines. They generally work well, and we recommend using them if we do not have an application for a particular Mopar vehicle.
If they are not already offering it, which is what I suspect, then give us a call & let's see if our Superchips ICON will work for you. The ICON is an inline ignition computer that can work on just about any engine, and we can almost always use them on just about any vehicle. They can control 2 coils each, so if your engine uses not more than 2 coils, it can be very cost-effective. If you have more than 2 coils, like some newer vehicles that use the coil-on-plug setup, the ICON can still work, but you need 1 for each pair of coils, so with more than 2 coils it's not quite as cost-effective, though it still works just fine to raise power.
Good luck & talk to you soon!
