90mm Mass Air chip program
90mm Mass Air chip program
Hey Mike,
Looking to buy a 90mm Mass Air for my truck, Its a 2001 F-150 single cab, with the 5.4L motor, is this possible to use with the right chip program or is this not possible. It seems like it would work I really don't know. The reason is I cut the inside of my stock mass air out and know It doesn't idle worth crap. I want to up the power so I figure this would help alot. Any help would be great, Thanks. If so what s the number I could contact you to talk about this.

HI!... Let me guess? You read all the posts on porting the stock MAF sensor?LOL! That only works about 50% of the time and ONLY to the older aluminum MAF sensors. NOT the newer ABS ones. I would suggest to you to just go buy another stock MAF or to get a PRO-M 80MM MAF. The 90mm MAF would be WAY over kill for your truck. The only way it would be benefical to you if you install all the bolt ons and a supercharger.
Hi True Blue,
Sorry to hear your gut job on the stock MAF didn't work out, but don't feel bad, about 70%-80% of the time people who do that in these F-150's end up with the same result that you got, and have to replace the MAF.
Just give us a call when you get a chance, & we'll go over this with you in detail.
Briefly, sure, we can set you up with a 90mm MAF from the 2001 Ford Lightning, for example, and tune it, but you might want to go with something a little smaller like the Pro-M 80mm unit. That Pro-M 80mm unit can easily support 400+ hp the 5.4 motor, there are 1999 & 2000 Lightnings making well over 400 hp on that 80mm unit. which is plenty more than you'll ever make on a non-Lightning F-150 unless you get pretty radical.
We will need to do a custom program for any MAF change of course, to reverse the leanout & get the load factors corrected, etc.
Our phone number is just below, & we look forward to speaking with you!

Hey thanks Neal and Mike,
Yeah I made the mistake of doing the old bore job on the Mass Air, and yes Neal I did do this mod on my 96 mustang gt and it worked well. Not so well on the old truck. O.k so my question would be where is the cheapest place to by the 80mm mass air at. O - and Mike when I buy the Mass air I'll be giving you a call so I can get both these things at the same time. Thanks again.

HI!... Read my lower SIG. If you hav'nt already!LOL! That's the MAF that was suggested to me by PRO-FLOW. I'll be getting my 87mm "BULLET" MAF right after x-mas. Then after my FLIP-CHIP re-burm via MIKE T of coarse and a few other mods, I should be going into the 13's next year. NATURALLY ASPERATED, BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Mikey,
Well, some people feel differently about this, but we feel that unless you're running a supercharger, or ported cylinder heads, etc., in other words, a number of mods or a major modification that significantly increase the engine's raw airflow capacity needs, you just don't see much power gain from going with a larger aftermarket MAF (mass airflow meter). We also need to do a custom program to compensate for their leanout, so all in all, I wouldn't spend the money on it with your level of modifications.
In Neal's case, he's got his 5.4 pushing some nice power, so he's at the point wher he can actually benefit from increasing not only his MAF size, but also his fuel injector size, so he won't starve for fuel at 1100 ft. down the 1/4 mile anymore.
