If your truck is stock and you can find a Superchips 1715 used that is unlocked that may be a good option. I use that programmer on my 2002 5.4 and it gave me a very noticeable boost in hp and throttle response. They are getting harder to find now but if you watch ebay you should be able to get one for cheap. Just be careful because some ebay sellers don't say whether it is vin locked or not. I bought mine from a forum member years ago. the member traded his truck before he used it so it was new but officially used for $150. I've seen them on ebay for much less than that but like I said before, make sure it is not vin locked. It allows the adjustment for tire diameter and many other things that I've forgotten about.

thank you for the feedback I appreciate your reply.
my truck is not quite stock I have the gotts intake mod I also have performance shocks in the front and Performance brake pads as well as exhaust. I cut out the muffler and put in a glass pack. my cats are clogged though and that is my next repair I'm going to be pulling off the exhaust manifolds and hollowing the Cats Out

Intake and exhaust mods shouldn't make a difference. You WILL need a tune to turn off the rear O2's or you will trip a CEL with P0420 and P0430 if you remove or gut the cats. You may need to get a supported programmer and custom tunes to do that, you are probably looking at around 500 bucks.

You can order them with the programmer from tuning houses. 5 Star and MPT are well regarded here. When you order the programmer and tunes, you fill out a form on the website, they ship the programmer with the custom tunes loaded. If the tunes need modifying they will send you revisions by email, load them on the programmer with USB.
