Shifts too hard
Shifts too hard
Mike, I have been running without my Superchip for the last year due to hard shifting. I really miss it. I sent it in to you a while back and you removed the custom program I had,,, and installed an updated FOU1 program. The updated program runs very well at part throttle and the extra throttle response is one of the things I want back!!! Did I say I missed my Superchip?
I also would like to improve full throttle power (I feel the chip is a little lean at full throttle/RPM) and increase shifting points, I have headers and exhaust.
Chris

Hi cujet,
Our phone number is below, just give us a call & we'll go over this with you in detail.
You could very well be running too lean with those headers & the other modifications combined, that is certainly a possibility, we see that happening at least 15% of the time when headers are installed in addition to something that reduces restriciton in the air intake tract and other modifications to the cat-back portion of the exhaust system combined. That will require a custom program to take care of.
FOU1 is the single most common code for the 1998 4.6 automatic F-150 in a non-California spec vehicle; we have hundreds of them running the exact same program you have, with not a single complaint of a too-firm shift. There may be some shift solenoid (very common in the 97 & 98 F-150's) or other issues going on here, we'll need to go over that in detail.
Just give us a call, & we'll go over all of it with you!
