Question superchip install help!

I just got my used superchip for my 97 4x4. I need the steps on installing it. 1st undo negative battery terminal right? turn head lights on, right? next remove computer. I have the kick panel off already I see one bolt holding the bracket holding the computer. is this the only bolt I need to remove? I know about cleaning the computer terminals with screw driver and scotch brite pad and reinstall.
thanks inadvance for the help.

Nevermind...

I got the chip in. I like the new power, I was expecting a firmer shift. Overall I'm satisfied.

Hi David,

Glad to hear you got it in OK.

The shifts are noticeably better, however, they won't be a "musclecar" type of shift unless you have a special custom program made. The way your Superchip is going to feel during the upshifts is, when driving conservatively, the shifts will still be smooth & fluid, just quicker; then as you give it more and more throttle opening, the line pressure increases in linear fashion, making the shifts fimer with more throttle just as it should. So by the time you're at the heavier throttle openings, the upshifts are noticeably faster & firmer.

It's basically best described as a "towing" type of calibration, as we try to keep the original character of the vehicle in mind when developing these applications.

You'll notice that all of the upshift delays are removed, as is that aggravating 1.5 second downshift delay, as well as the transitional spark retards that reduces engine power during the shifts. Those are very nice improvements that noticeably quicken the powertrain's response and improve performance above and beyond what the raw power gain from the Superchip does.

If you want a particuarly firm shift, then you'll either need to do a custom program update on your Superchip, or install a shift kit. We generally recommend driving it with the Superchip for 30 days before deciding that you want to do further transmission changes, just so you know how it shifts in all situations, even in the rain going around curves, etc.

Good luck!
