Need advice

Just lifted my 2014 5.0 XLT (4" Fabtech) and added 35" tires and new wheels. Looking for recommendations on the best way to recalibrate the speedo without breaking the bank. I'm not really interested in custom tunes but won't rule out the possibility, either.

Thanks,

Jerry

I found only about 1/2 the dealers will do this. But, I recommend it -- especially if you don't want tunes.

I think they charge $80-$100, plus 1 hour.

When I changed my axle to 4.10 ratio from 3.31, I just went to my local dealer and they did it. I forgot the cost.

Get a quote from your dealer or someone who has the hardware and software to do it. Otherwise, it's going to cost you $200 for a device to do it yourself.

So, after the new tires ,my speedo read about 2-3 MPH under the speed limit at 55-60 MPH. I got the superchip flashcal and set it for 34.5 (based on dimensions from the Nitto website) in tires and it read about 5 mph OVER the speed limit. I tried to set it 3 times and each time I plugged it in it said my tires were 29.5". I finally went back to the stock settings resolved to know I am going about 3 MPH over the speedo at 55-60 MPH.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jerry

What you need to do is use trial and error, comparing the speedo to a GPS, till you get it right.

I took your advice, GLC. So my 35x12.5 Terra Grapplers read right vs. the GPS with a setting of 31". I wouldn't have thought they would be that far off, but it is what it is.

Thanks,

Jerry

You may be programming the wrong axle ratio.
