Edge Gryphon question...

Heys guys..I have the edge gryphon tuner along with the pod on my 2006 5.4 Lariat..and I'm selling the truck this week...the tuner isn't going with it. Will this plug into any truck of that generation with a 5.4...I'm buying a newer eco boost and want to sell the gryphon ...but I want to make sure I list it properly and don't rip anyone off....thanks

It SHOULD work in any 04-08 F150 provided you have returned the tune in your current truck to stock (level 0) and THEN have used Pegasus to restore the tuning in it to the original canned tunes. Your custom tunes will not work in another vehicle.

After your Gryphon is connected to Pegasus, click on Updates->Gryphon Update Manager and apply all updates you see listed to restore the canned tunes.

Thank you...Yes the first thing I did when getting home from the dealer (picking the new one up this weekend) was to put the truck back to stock. I was curious if the tunes that were in it would work on a truck equipped the same...same engine, tires cold air intake etc . . but your saying it will NOT.. But if I return it to the original factory tunes it originally came with it will.

The CANNED tunes will work in another truck, but not any custom tunes.

You've got it right. I THINK, that if the buyer of your Gryphon happened to have a truck that had an IDENTICAL PCM calibration (.hex) code with your old one, then the custom tunes could be used on it. However, it would also need the same cold air intake too, since your tunes were written with those in mind.

The chances though, of another truck having an identical .hex code are very slim.

Yes, if it had the identical HEX code and the same mods, then the custom tunes would be usable. The odds of that are very close to zero.

I haven't picked it up yet..they have to put running boards on it...so not only is my lariat in the driveway still but the more I look at it the more I get buyers remorse...but the f-150 has 150000 miles and is due for a plug change and has what appears to be a phaser tick...so its time I guess. But I will miss her. I'm curious as to how the dodge compares..felt good on the test drive.

Gee, in your first post you said you were buying a newer Ecoboost - what happened to send you over to Ram? If you don't trust the Ecoboost, the 5.0 is a solid engine.

I didn't want to dig too deep in the pocket ..I set a budget and didn't want to go over it because I don't believe in financing..i pay cash,..As soon as I buy a truck I start saving for the next...but I had back surgery and been out of work for a while and that hurt..And bottom line..I couldn't find a Lariat or Platinum under 38 grand around here...got the Laramie which is the dodge version of the Lariat for 12 and my truck out the door..they gave me the most for my truck after seeing all I've done to it...the other dealers just went by the book.....the best deal I found on another ford was 5 grand more and my truck....just couldn't put together a deal...believe me I wanted a ford...We'll see what happens with this truck
