tuner unlock

Hello everyone. I was looking at tuners for my ram and didn't even think about the SCT X3 I already have. I know I have to get it unlocked but can I get tunes on it for a different make or is it set to only certain vehicles? I ask because on SCT's site it is general for canned tunes but still has it set up like V8 F150s and E150s and V8 mustangs for example. So question is basically once unlocked, can I have anything for any vehicle loaded on it? Thank you guys.

Did you remember to return the F-150 to stock before you traded it in?

Nope. I didn't plan on trading in that day but did and the tune was an afterthought. I spoke to a guy at hemi fever tuning and he said this sct model is not compatible with a dodge. I have to contact sct to verify this tho. But if he is right, I would be going with a trinity intune. He claimed 30hp and 30 lb-ft with the 93 tune and from what I've read on forums it seems to be almost right on.

I'm pretty sure SCT can unlock it for a fee, but I doubt it can be made to work on a Dodge. I think the firmware is different and my guess is your unit will not accept that firmware.

However, these are all questions you should have answered by SCT's tech support. If they say you can do it, go for it.

Yeah sct charges 150 so that why I was thinking about it instead of buying another. 150 plus tune of about 125 is cheaper than 489 or 600 lol
Sct comes up with an X3 when I enter my truck but it holds 10 tunes and they don't have any canned tunes for a ram. It is supposed to be for custom tunes only it says. My X3 only holds 3 tunes last I knew so it's a different model number than mine apparently. Thanks guys. I appreciate the input.

Basically I could sell my sct for less or spend 150 and unlock it and try selling it for more but probably won't get my money back from the unlocking.
