Whats the concusses on where to go for tunes ?

Being the tuner section has been around a while now and that I am getting ready to order a new X4 I am wondering who you all seem to feel is the best bang for your buck tune wise now. Now I know opinions will vary a bit but I am sure there must be one maybe preferred ?

I am going from a PHP Gryphon to the X4 and although I like PHP and I know Bill has a ton of experience they are raising their prices to $75 EACH tune versus places like 5Star where you buy the X4 for $449 and get 5 tunes included.

I guess what I want to know is are there any members here that have used PHP and other writers and found the higher cost of the PHP tune really worth it ? Being I have only had the PHP tuner since 2008 I have nothing to compare it to.

Thanks

I took the plunge and went with a different tuner but I got a different truck that was better tuned by someone other than php....

on my 06... I've had php, vmp, troyer, 5star....php was the best
my Adrenaline....vmp and php....vmp had the six speed auto nailed...
on my 02 HD....Woodbine motor sports

I'd venture to say mike @5star has done some really good things with the newer models...imo

Bought the x4 from php and tune for a 13 5.0 and even after the revise the converter still kicks out before the up shifts, while tired of waiting on another revise from php. Bought a tune from mpt and it also had the converter issue, but after a couple of revises they had it resolved in a very timely matter. So far very happy with the 93 mpt tune and the customer service.

I'm in the same boat...debating on 5star & MPT.
The MPT is $399 and the 5Star is $449

Both have 3 tunes.

Also, I don't know why I would ever need the X4 over the $379 X3!?

Actually 5star is five tunes if I read right, and the advantage of the X4 is smaller and wifi so update anywhere no cable no computer worth the diff in my eyes

mpt offers $20 discount with the coupon code "f150forum". I love the service I got from MPT. I ordered the 91 tunes. I started having issues and they instantly started working. As we neared the goal I discovered my area was switching from 91 to 89, meaning 91 was no longer available and I didnt catch it before asking MPT for assistance with spark knock. They had me data log the truck and pretty much built me an 89 octane tune. My performance tune now works on 89 without issue. I cant say enough good things about their product and their service.
