Fuel additive

Anyone put fuel additive in their tanks with high octane tunes just to be safe and not have to worry about the quality of fuel? If so what do you use?

I have never used it. But if you compare the price of the additive to the difference in a price of quality fuel, I think the additive will cost you more.

There is no octane booster that will give a significant boost. It is a total waste of money. Techron is good for cleaning the system but that is the only additive I would use. Just buy gas with a detergent and buy the octane your tune calls for.

If you want higher octane then go buy race fuel......the little bottles aren't an economical decision....

Buy top tier gas at least the octane of your tune and throw a bottle of Techron in at every oil change. Change the fuel filter every 30k (if it's not inside the tank) and get an intake cleaning (BG or Motorvac) every spark plug change.

If you feel an octane booster is needed calculate how many gallons of E85 U need and pump in $2 or 3 dollars worth.

I wouldn't put even 2 or 3 bucks worth of E85 into a vehicle that's not flex fuel. That's not enough to significantly raise octane, but it's enough to possibly get the alcohol percentage higher than safe.
