4.2L appears to be running rich
Hi All,
I have a 2007 with the 4.2 L that seems to be running rich. It doesn't make bad mileage 18-19 mpg highway, but the tail pipe is always sooted up. I've thought about putting on a cold air intake, and a tuner but don't know which way to go. Any suggestions would help.

Its prety likely that its not running rich.
The factory O2 sensors will always target a 14.7:1 AFR at cruise, so unless the O2s are bad, its not running rich (you'd get codes if it were, or if the O2s were bad).
A tuner will likely offer better gains than a CAI, but doing both is a popular option as well
