I have a friend that has a tuner for a v6 f150 he had, and said if i wanted to use it for my 04 supercrew i could. My question is, Can I use it for my truck? Do I have to get a different tune loaded to it before I can use it? Or do i have to buy a whole new tuner? Thanks in advance.

Not real sure what kind of tuner it is, but i will find out. My truck is the fx4 supercrew, new style, with a 5.4.

If I get a new tune, does it still cost hundreds or is it cheaper since i already have the hand held?

 

I am thinking he said it was a superchips.

 

I am not familiar with superchips so not sure if it will accept custom tunes.
If it does a single tune does not cost that much, $60-100 per tune, some tuners package 2 or 3 to bring the price down.
Hopefully you can get custom tunes you won't believe the difference it will make in your truck. My advice is to go for a 91 or 93 octane tune, if you tow then get a tow tune, if not go for an all out performance tune.
