I put my edge in a 2003 F-150 after setting my 97 back to stock, it fried the PCM so I replaced it, I'd like to put the tune back on my 97 but it says its VIN locked. I couldn't set it back to stock prior to pulling it out of the 03 so I was wondering if y'all might know what needs to be done

it'll probably have to go back to Edge, unless PHP can help you...



either way, my suggestion is to take it as a sign and get yourself a device without cable issues and a custom tune all at once

 

I don't know that it has to be "sent" to Edge to be unlocked. I THINK they may be able to unlock it remotely, but there will be a fee - I think it's around $75, but I may be wrong.

I had a similar issue with mine, and they were able to reset online. If you explain teh situation they may waive the fee.

 

I wouldn't trust it with the known cable issue.

I'll give them a call when I get a chance to get it squared away, I've been workin so much that they're always closed when I finally get the chance to call them up

The only programmer that has a cable issue is the original monochrome Edge Evolution for 97-03 vehicles.

 

Which would be a better programmer for a 97 F-150?

 

Edge/Gryphon CS/CTS or a SCT X3.

 

If you want the gages go with Edge Gryphon +CS/CTS, only draw back is PHP is only choice for custom tunes. SCT X3 is program and remove, but there are several good tuning shops that will write custom tunes.
