Tuner problem? Speedometer?

Hi everyone, I tried searching for this, but I came up with nothing. I am having a bit of a problem with my truck. I just recently got a PHP Gryphon. It is getting cold out here in WI so I am not sure what exactly is causing my problem but on start up, the speedometer bottoms out. (below the botttom marks) and starts a ticking type noise. This only lasts a few seconds and stops once I start moving. My question is what could be causing this? I am leaning toward either the programmer or the battery. I have noticed that once the truck is warm, it doesn't do it. Only on a cold start. If it helps I have the 4.6L v8. I am just checking to see if anyone has had a similar problem before I go digging into it. (not a lot of spare time) Thanks in advance.

I would recommend doing a little trouble shooting.
1st, put the oem back, make sure the truck will start, then turn it off, disconnect the battery for 30 minutes (removing the memory) then hook it all back up and see if it does it again. If not, you know the answer.
