Superchips 1715
superchips
I dont know about superchips. I can tell you about gforce chips. Actually its a chip inside a box with two wires that connects to the ecu on your intake tube between the air breather and the throttle body. I hooked mine up in about twenty minutes and got a true two miles to the gallon more. i went from 15 to 17 mpg. Now this is mixed around town and highway. So i may get even more when i take a trip. My truck is a '03 FX4 supercrew w/5.4 w/ 130k Good luck Doug M.
it's all about how much you want to spend and what you want it to do. I had that model superchip on my 01 workd good for what it was, I upgraded to the edge and really like it much better than the superchip. there are many out there and everyone will have a different opinion about them and what it should be used for. read up on them and make your decision on the research, decide what you want out of it and how much cash you want to part with. also keep an eye on the marketplace on this forum someone is always selling one type or another at good prices

what happens if that "resistor in a box" ever fails and puckers yer pcm????
Fer what little money those things cost and the lack of quality control when they're made....I'm not willing to risk a pcm fer it...
sct sf3.....
I am assuming that a newer model of the 1715? On the product page that I did find on it it says insalls easy. It is my understanding (Sorry to sound like an idiot) but with these I dont have t leave it plugged in right I just flash the new settings and disconnect

It does not appear to be a "snake oil" device like the G-Force chip.

I've used Superchips tuners and had good luck with them. They won't do Custom Tunes only "canned". I actually have a Cortex 1950 that I used on my 2011 FX4 with the 5.0 any really liked the difference it made! Just switched to an EcoBoost so tuner will be going up For Sale shortly.
"risistor in a box" " snake oil" LOL. Y'all can call it what you want it works. If you guys actually know more than one person that put a gforce " resistor in a box" and had trouble with it.Let me know. But i can tell you of people that cant connect two wires together and screw something up. Or put a chip and think they have a super truck, burn something up and blame it on the chip or whatever. I can run regular gas. at least two more miles to the gallon, mixed highway and town driving. And yes it was cheap. $65.00 including shipping. I guess time will tell.

I have a GS430 2004 and made the mistake of hooking up this GFORCE performance chip I got for christmas.
I asked them to send me a wire digram to make sure I connected the wire clips to the right two wires. They did so I did what they instructed. The moment I started the car I could tell it was running rough… I got the check engine light and VSC lights on also so I turned off the car and disconnected the chip.
I took the car into the shop and it ended up being the mother board after all. The G-Force chip fried it and it cost $1000 to get repaired… I did everything as they told me and my mechanic verified that I did tap into the two wires they tell you to… so just a warning this could happen to you also.
Another heads up to anyone considering that piece of junk GFORCE CHIP. They promise a full 100% refund if your not satisfied, but what you don’t know is that buried in the small fine print in the long terms and conditions ( if you were to bother reading them) They let you know that they charge a 25% restocking fee! So you pay 69.00 + shipping = $74.95. Then you have to pay to ship it back ($5.95 ) so your $80+ into this mess. This is after the damage to my car so add $990.00 to fix it. So now I’m at $1,070.90 and all they refunded me was $51.75 when I was expecting the $69.00 back. They just keep bending you over and filling their pockets at every turn. No wonder they offer 100% money back guarantee. They make $17.25 off every return as well.

Edge/Superchips, SCT, Diablosport are all great brands and offer different settings based on what you want to do. Perhaps 1000's of reviews on the tuners will help you? Just put your vehicle in the selector and those reviews will show up first. Then call or chat and my guys will get you a deal on one of them!
i had a superchips 1715 on my truck for over 3 years and it worked great! i never had a problem with it and it definitely improved the shift firmness and made it feel great! i would recommend it unless you want to go the custom tune route.
