Are these the correct tunes????
So after reviewing comments on one of my earlier posts and reading some of the of lastest posts, I think that I'm going to go with 5star tuning: 87 ecom/87 tow/91 perf? Just seeing what the norm is for the tunes. I'm looking to get the performance and improvment of the gas mileage. I tow a jet ski and sometimes a 22' Mako boat but the jet ski is hardly any weight in the fiirst place. Again to refer to my truck, I have a 2005 5.4L Supercrew, 2" autospring leveling kit and 305/55/20 Nitto A/T 20x10 Mazzi Hulks. I have some bolt on engine parts such as K&N cold air, throttle body spacer, Jet MAF sensor and a Flowmaster 40 series dual exhaust. You guys are alot of help and appreciate your timely feedback.
For reference - this was the thread the OP was referring to: https://www.f150online.com/forums/ch...r-my-5-4l.html
Washoobi tuning was already covered.

If I were you I would return it (if you even can) and put that $100 buck or so to better use. IMHO.
O ok well in that case it can stay on but I will however get rid of the Jet MAF sensor. So bc of the K&N air induction, I need a custom tune from what I have been told. So I guess 5star tuning would be able to handle that. Also what is the difference in price from a normal to a custom tune or again would that be a question for 5star? Has anyone else needed a custom tune and if so, could you tell the difference?

A custom tune is going to require Dyno time which last time I checked is going to run you a few hundred buck. Your setup is a common one for some people and most of them get by with either A) Disco the battery and let the computer relearn, monitor the truck and watch for a CEL or B) Get a tuner yourself and run a preloaded tune...and hey if you got rid of that spacer you would be part way there to a nice Edge Evo which is a good tuner.

Additionally - these trucks have been known to run as lean as > 15:1 in Open Loop and NOT trip a CEL. ONLY direct A/F measurement will tell you with certainty.
BTW - I have several mail-order custom tunes, and I do my own datalogging (c/w wideband) - they are dead-on.
