Replacing old school SC flipchip

Since me truck got vandalized and is getting redone it has me fixing allthe other quirks on it now too. Replacing some of the faded exterior items and now working on performance items.

I have had a Superchips Flip chip in my truck I got from Mike about 10 yrs ago. It started acting up last yr and even pulling it and cleaning all the contacts on the PCM and chip still showed some problems with it. Weird idle and running performance issues so I took it out. It didn't matter what side of the program it was on.. Well I miss it and the extra power I got especially towing our trailers.
What is a new tuner preferably from Mike Troyer again that would give me optional reg performance on reg gas and then a better tow/performance program when needed. I`m so out of the loop on this stuff and all the new " Toys" that have come out over the yrs. Mine never gave me any trouble so never bothered looking at the new stuff.

Specs on this chip are 87 octane side 1
91 octane towing/performance side 2
Thanks

Hey.

X3 from SCT:

http://www.sctflash.com/products.php?PID=1&VID=

You can get these from the top tuners - MikeTroyer, VMP, PHP, etc. Comes with 3 custom tunes of yer choice.

Example: http://www.vmptuning.com/store/index...parent=66&pg=1

These plug into the OBDII port under the dash. You can remove the device once you have programmed yer PCM.

The one difference you'll see is that with the flip chip you could change programs on the fly......with a handheld programmer you'll need to shut the truck off to change tunes ......

I think you still need that restart....or at least a PCM adaptice clear fer best results?

And of course, if the tunes are for different octanes ....

Thats for best results.....

but for the everyday average Joe, Mike says .......
But out on the street, I wouldn't worry about it - I'd just flip the switch and not bother with clearing the PCM after changing programs with the 2-program Flip Chip

Thanks guys and I will look into those. I used to just flip the switch right before I started it and took off after filling up with 91 or hooking up the trailer...Never did it on the fly though. Put the toggle in a hole right below the dash line that was easy to reach but not hit with my knees. Cant figure out what the deal is with it but its given me 10 yrs of service and time for an upgrade I guess...
