A Couple Quick Questions

I have a 2001 2wd 5.4 with gotts mod and drop-in k&n, dual efans conversion, and dual exhaust from the cats back with dynomax bullets for mufflers. I am now looking to buy a programmer to hold custom tunes. I know I could search through the thousands of threads on here to try and find these answers but seems like a waste of time considering someone on here can probably answer them in a couple of seconds. (Thanks beforehand by the way!) I am looking at the sct x2 and x3. Would I see any difference in power gains between the two? Can I get custom tunes for the x2 just as easily as for the x3? Are there any recommended tuners to use and if so how much do they charge per tune? Can I buy a used x2 that was previously used on a mustang as long as it is unlocked? Is there a particular part number I have to have for an F150 or do sct products work for any ford vehicle. I also saw a used x3 for sale that still had custom tunes on it for a powerstroke. The guy claims that it can work on an f150 as long as you get new tunes. Is this true? Any other random bits of info are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

As long as the programmer has had the stock factory tune reloaded into the vehicle that the previous owner had and it has not been locked you should be good to go. By unlocked I mean that it is capable of downloading new tunes. I think that SCT X3 comes with 5. I have an SCT X3 that has been used on 3 different vehicles. As far as tunes are concerned, you would do best to to get custom tunes emailed to you. 5Star Tuning, VMP, and Troyer seem to be the most used custom tunes around. What is important is the quality of custom tune and not the programmer. The programmer is only the device used to upload the tune into your vehicle. Pricing varies a little from each tuner. Just look them up and see what they have to offer you and how much it costs. The X3 you are looking at will support and F150 as long as you replace the tunes for the Powerstroke with ones compatible with your truck. Remember the programmer is only the device used to upload the tune to your truck.
