Anyone upgrade an Edge programer to a Gryphon?

I have benn running and Edge Evolution CS gas on my 1998 f150 for the last year I like it but am giving serious thought to upgrading it to a gryphon through power hungry performance. I love that I can see my avg. mpgs on my edge and the code reader has been great I dont want to loose the two things.

Since my f150 is a 98 the edge it only gave me an increase of 15 hp but the gryphon would up give me an extra 15 beyond that. I also like that I can run an 87 towing , 87 performance and a 91 performance and get rid of the transmission only setting thats on the edge and I never use.

You won't lose any capability if the programmer is upgraded with custom tunes. I don't know that you can expect to see an additional 15 HP increase, but I think the tunes will definitely be "more refined", and I would expect SOME increase in power and torque. The tune could be more "tailored" to your driving needs too.

Thanks yes I have a long list of mods so custom tunes is what I was after although they are all bolt on no engine work . Did you buy yours from PHP I'm seeing people wait a long time to get their custom tunes. So you were pretty happy with your Gryphon?

PHP is the only one who CAN upgrade an Edge product to a Gryphon and write custom tunes for it.

I'm actually on my second programmer. The original was an Edge Evolution I bought used through EBay, I had it converted to a Gryphon by PHP and bought two custom tunes from them. I still have that programmer.

But then, when the CTS platform came out, I decided to get one of those, so I ordered it from PHP. Bill was able to transfer my tunes to it without really having to rewrite them.

I consider it the best mod I've made to my truck. I think the wait time for tunes is in the range of about a month now. You will not have to send your CS in to be "converted" or anything like that. They just need your order and your truck's hex/calibration code, as well as some other details that are on the order form.

Many of us have converted to the Gryphon. I ran the Edge Evo on my 2005 for about 30,000 miles, then ran the Gryphon for about 75,000. There is a lot of difference, especially in the shifting and downshifting.

It is my understanding that the CS, and CST do not require any upgrade to accept custom tunes from PHP.

I wouldn't expect an extra 15 hp. But the improvement is in shifting and driveability.

I have an Edge Evo Monochrome for my 2007 F-150, will I need to send it in to PHP to get converted? If so, I may get the CST and sell the one I have now.

NO. It's done via PHP's server now. Check their site & forum for additional info on this process.

A quick site search would have netted you this: https://www.f150online.com/forums/ch...o-gryphon.html

An Evo for a 04-08 no longer has to be sent in to be converted, it can now be done with the Pegasus software.
