SCT X3 tuner question

I have an SCT tuner that was custom dyno tuned for my truck that I want to sell. Where my question comes in is, can someone else with a 2010 4x4 5.4 and CAI use this tuner with the custom tune? The tuner has no canned maps, only the custom mapping... I have been using my truck for Towing a lot more than when I had it tuned so I no longer have the tune in..kinda feel like I wasted $500 so I'd like to get some of the $ back.

If you sell it the chances of those custom tunes working on someone else's truck are slim to none.....due to box code/ hex code variations....

But at the same time, I'm not always towing...just feel like a stock tune is best for me.

Could a person have a towing tune and performance tune for the same fuel type and just switch back and forth as the situation called for?

Seriously? I have had to "live with" my stock tune for over a month now while SCT and 5star get my tuner issues figured out. I feel like I'm drowning in disparity and can't wait to get my get up and go back. The stock tune doesn't even compare to custom in any way, shape, or form.

How long (roughly) does it take to load a tune on a 09 5.4L?

The sct first time(virgin) load is approx 25-45 minutes....then after that 5-15 minutes each time....

Remember that two computers are being programmed.....

I did not know it took that long. I'm used to the 2004-2008s that takes about 2 minutes.

It feels like it takes forever because, you have to be sitting in the truck turning the key on and off... would be a different story if you could just let it go while you sit on the couch and watch TV.

I agree wholeheartedly, having my truck tuned gave me slightly better fuel economy, a better exhaust note, a lot more power, smoother delivery of it and much much better drive-ability. It might as well be a whole different drivetrain with the tune in but, when I am loaded down and towing a snowmobile trailer I would hate to cause damage.

You couldn't possibly be more wrong here. My X3 is simple, plug in select tune you want, turn key to run, turn off ALL power sucking accessories, and push play and walk away. There is absolutely no key on or key off events after that until it is done. It is though a solid 40 minute experience to re-tune, and easily a 25 minute experience to return to stock to make a dealer maintenance trip. But I hit play and go back in the house, or fuddle with something else in the garage.

Get a custom tow tune for whatever fuel octane you prefer to burn and leave it alone.
