To start off... I have purchased a used Gryphon CS (suppose to be) from another member here. Waiting for delivery. I have received PM's from Toyz and MGDfan with insight for this product. Thank Guys

I have been reading threads all morning about this product (on here and PHP forum) and the can/can nots. In preparation, I just downloaded/installed the Fusion software on my laptop. I know I will not be able to use the current custom tunes on it (would need to be programmed to my PCM hex code) but I can use the canned ones. Before I do anything, I should make sure the unit is updated to latest version, then call Bill at PHP to order custom tune(s).

I feel confident I am on the right track, but since I have never used something high end as this programmer I just want to double check. What do ya's think?

Got my programmer today and I guess I'm stuck till after Dec.2 when PHP re-opens. Hooked it up to the truck, just to check it out and it was showing 2 custom 87 tunes and what appeared to be a canned 93.

Took it inside to check for updates for it and here's what it found out:

1) Does not work with Fusion Software 2) Pegasus software brings up the model # and other info at bottom of screen. 3) As per PHP site, clicked on Updates/Custom File Download - Internet ..... and it said something about installing canned tunes (which is what I wanted for now) H O W E V E R .......

After that, I clicked Updates/Gryphon Manager .... it did a little dance and now I can only get this Message:

Unable to Determine the current program state (Level) of the unit.

Anyone know the reset code for this?

 

I can only think that the gryphon is locked (married) to the previous truck / owner. In other words the previous owner didn't set his truck back to stock before he sold it. I have 3 canned tunes on mine.
1. transmission
2. tow
3. performance

I might be dead wrong. Mine isn't a cs/cts though.

I,m sure more experienced members will chime in on this to help ya out.

Still no luck. It's not supposed to be VIN locked, and it didn't act like it at the time I was shown a Hex code, but I'm at a loss. Even tried Compatability Mode all the way back to Win 2000

 

I was almost in the same boat as you. I received a picture showing that the tuner was unlocked. Before I purchased I decided to go with a brand new CS to avoid the extra hassle.... Go to forum.gopowerhungry.com those guys will square you away with all of your questions..

Please see my post on PHP's forum, Red. You MUST NOT use Pegasus with a CS programmer. It is possible that your laptop does not have the "power" to run the CS properly through the USB port. The CS normally ships with a "doubled" USB cable plug for this reason. It's better to just use a desktop PC.

Fusion won't even recognize it though,never did. Stays at connect device. I haven't had a desktop for some time since the laptop was invented. Anywho.... on to the next issue. No owners manual, no cd.... I'm working uphill in a hurricane

Edit... I may have one desktop option ... if I can find the right vga cable in the tons of wires I save up. I'll let ya know

 

Although a different device, I had an odd experience with my tuner and computers.... When I first ran into trouble with my SCT X3, I had the techs @ SCT try to dig into my tuner to find my problems. To do thisI had to log in, and allow them remote access to my computer, and literally take over my mouse. However, at first, while using my desktop, I was unable to connect with them, no matter what avenue we tried. I was on the phone with them and they were trying to talk me through setting up the remote access. Finally, he asked me if I had any other computers. My only other option was my older, less powerful, less cluttered laptop, however both devices were running the same protection software. 2 minutes after connecting to the laptop, we were in, and moving.

My point is, maybe it has something more to do with your laptop than just power. Maybe its a software compatibility issue. Any other laptop options? Even one a little more basic? Also, make sure the plug is FULLY inserted into the device. I've had that problem before too.

 

the plug is/was/ and always fully inserted. And yeah, I just dug out an older computer that has been hibernating for a long time. I found my only vga cable to use a 32" LCD. And this computer has 8 usb ports.

I just installed Fusion on a bone stock desktop that was packed away. Had to run some updates 'cause .Net updates were needed and Fusion says to check.

Fusion attempted to boot the programmer... then gave an error 4116 Unidentified Level. So I am still at square one. It seems Edge doesnt have a Forum and Tech Support is closed. Any more ideas I can try? When I connect it to the truck, it still just says connecting to Bridge, Please Wait

I am getting conflict on who needs to us Pegasus and who needs to use Fusion. Pegasus recognizes my device and shows parameters such as being connected, model number, serial number.. and if working correctly....calibration.

Well after finding out I have a monochrome Gryphon, I have been trying all week to somehow get it reset. Spent all day Tuesday with Tech Support Flash Chat up... and nothing. Call multiple times, and when I did get through, they just took my return number. Sent emails. I am trying to be patient as I have had this problem for a month now. Getting frustrated that I can't get this $250.00 paper weight to work so I can order custom tunes
