I got a 1990 f150 4x4 that has a Blue Superchip in it.. i am curious what kinda power gains these are suppose to give and was wondering if your suppose to run 93 octane with it.

 

Yep, my last truck had a chip, and I believe it was blue. It gave me about 24hp on a '99 5.4, and I had to use premium fuel. Chips are very specific, so you won't know for sure unless the previous owner knows, or maybe Superchips can help. Chances are the premium gas requirement is the same, so I'd remove it unless you put premium in every time.

 

The chip was in there when i got the truck and the previous owner didnt say anything about it and i been running 87 octane for a while.. guess i better take it out.

 

If it's not pinging, don't worry about it.
