Need help with custom tune on Edge Evolution

So i bought a evolution from my buddy who sold his truck, when it was on his truck it was saying that the splash file was corrupt and he couldnt return his truck to stock. So i sent it into edge and payed the 99 dollars and they fixed it for me. When I got it back and tried to put a custom tune on my turck and when chosing what to set idle, wot, rev limiter and everything else the numbers to chose from were different so I went through with the manual and thought I had everything where i wanted it but when I started my truck it would idle down to under 500 rpm and the it would jump up tp over 1000 rpm and eventually die. It also had a strong odder of gas in the exhaust. But when I put it on the canned tunes it runs great. Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong.

DO NOT try to "customize" the tune the first time you load one. Doing so interferes with the way the Edge builds its internal file system.

So, what I suggest is you try to load the Level 2 tune and totally skip the "custom tune" part.

Drive it like that for a while.

And, if you STILL have a poorly running truck, I suspect it's got a mechanical defect that the tune is "uncovering". (The adaptive learning in your truck learned how to compensate for the problem but a tune abruptly changes things and the truck cannot adapt. It expects a truck to be in perfect running condition when the tune is built.) If this is the case, how long has it been since you've cleaned the throttle body or the MAF sensor? Those are the two areas that often cause problems when loading a tune for the first time.

What If I did do a custom tune part the first time I programmed the truck with the new edge CS. I had the old EVO so I was comfortable doing the custom tune the 1st time. How can I erase what I did so the edge can build its internal file system. Also will I benefit anything from doing the canned level 2 first and then custom. Either way I already did a custom tune on level 2 is there anyway to undo what I did?

It should reset if you will program the truck back to stock and disconnect the programmer for a bit (maybe 1/2 hour). That should essentially return it to the "factory state". While you're in this wait period, you might connect it to Fusion and let it upload any firmware/software updates Edge has.

The key to figuring out what is going wrong in software is to make small changes in one area only and test. This minimizes "interactions".

For instance, when you DO, start making changes, do them one at a time. Maybe start with the idle. If things seem OK, move on to the Rev Limit, and so on. I'd actually be a little hesitant about changing WOT fuel. People who've done that in the past have experienced strange symptoms, and the canned tunes have already made an adjustment in WOT fuel. Likewise, advancing the timing can cause some weird results (one of them is a "drifting idle").

Alright guys so I did what yall said and it worked just like you said it would and I was able to load my custom tune with no problem. It is running great and the first time I drove it after I loaded the new tune it took 5 seconds off my 0-60 time and its telling me im getting almost two more mile per gallon better than with the canned tune, which im not complaining about. So my concern now is I feel like my speedo is way off, on the highway I will look down and be going 80 mph and it feels like im not even going that fast. I do have oversized tires (285/75/16) and when I did the custom tune I looked up the correct number to put in for my size tire and also changed the gear ratio to match my truck. Is it just me or is there something that could be off.

Compare the Edge speed to a GPS and adjust tire size accordingly to get them to match. When you do this, the vehicle speedo will be a couple mph high.
