is superchip the same as jdm?

i just purchased a superchip for my 2001 L. though i thought i read somewhere that superchips used the jdm burn. anyone know for sure?

if so, i thought i saw where jim (from jdm) was still finalizing his programming on the 2001 chip. if this is so, how can superchip have a chip with a 2001 burn already?

also, when i ordered my superchip, i was very specific that i needed the chip for a 2001. is there anyway is can be sure that i was sent the right one, and not one for a 2000?

many thanks!

Hi Dean,

No, I think you may have a basic misunderstanding. JDM does not do the R&D for Superchips programs, Superchips does their own R&D and makes their own programs, they do not depend on JDM for that work.

I have personally worked with the engineer in charge of Lightning program development at Superchips for quite some time, trust me, Superchips does their own programming, and in fact does much programming for many other manufacturers, OEM's & various "names" in the business.

Here at Performance Products, we have been shipping Superchips for the 2001 Lightning for quite some time now, that is nothng new, and is in no way dependant on anything that JDM is doing.

And just so we're clear, this is in no way any "knock" on JDM, Jim's a very good Lightning tuner who is thought very highly of by a lot of people.

If you'd like to go over any of this, please feel free to give us a call at our number below.
