You must convert your Edge to a Gryphon in order to use custom tunes. The ones that came with your Edge are not custom.

I know they're small and they went thru some family and health issues but I expect some level of customer service. I've sorta given up on the trade in and have just kept my EDGE.

But don't hesitate on a programmer, getting one is a no brainer!
True!

It's easy to install....just search YouTube for edge installs....

As a precaution....I always switch tunes with a battery tender and when I'm at home....

Yes....just pick the octane gas that you run most in the truck.....get a custom tune in a performance and a tow in the same octane....

i got my gryphon back about 2 weeks ago with the 87 performance tune and it is amazing. It took about 2 months to get it back. But for the last 3 weeks i was on the live chat everyday and they got my order going faster. Just stay on top of it and bug the hell out of them until you get yours back.

I'm sure the folks at PHP are good people - they obviously have a lot of fans here - but I tried to give them my business 3 times and never got so much as a how do you do. And now you tell me I'll have to bug hell out of em to get a Gryphon back in two months if I were to send in my EDGE?

Not a glowing recommendation. Heck I sent some aircraft instruments back to the manufacturer in Sweden for repair and they didn't take two months to go there and back.

Guess I'll stick with the EDGE as is or wait till PHP can hire some help.

what i was trying to say is that if i had bugged them from the start, i would have gotten it back within 2 weeks. Since i didnt start bugging them for over a month, it took a lot longer to get it back. As for hiring more help, dont count on it. Bill has said in the past that it is not worth the time and money to train someone how to tune these trucks just to have them leave and go off on their own. They do good work as fast as they can. If your happy with your evo, then keep it. I know you would be a lot happier with the gryphon. And im sure the aircraft company you sent parts back to has a lot more employees than PHP, which only has 3. And at most times these days its only bill and cody since corey is out a lot with medical issues.

With regards to “Chips” and “Tuners”, years ago it was the best that most could do to enhance the ignition timing, fuel curve, transmission shift points, etc. It was (and still is) very important that a person verifies that the “Tuner” is ASE certified in both ECM and Transmission programming and IMHO be have current certification by the OEM whose vehicle you want to modify. There are plenty of persons who advertise their programs to be the best and even offer custom tunes, but in all reality, very few actually have credentials in these areas- but that’s not to say that some of these “geniuses” haven’t really caused damage to a few vehicles or that Gryphon or Edge have caused problems. Perhaps what is equally important is the parameters that can be adjusted are set by the oem vehicle software…so there is really no “magic” in what they are doing anyway.

IMHO, if you live near any major city there are excellent tuning specialists with dynos who for the same price (if not less- considering the time spent on follow-up, etc) will tune your vehicle taking into consideration your specific needs including environmental conditions, for your specific vehicle.

Don't get your push rod motors mixed up with the vct motors....not all tuners know how these vct systems operate.....even tuners that have excellent reputations on tuning mustang have issues with the f150 trucks....

So you recommend taking it to the guy down the street...
Not happening with my ride...
