Glad you're happy.

A custom tuned Gryphon or SCT XCAL3 would have stimulated your butt dyno even more.

I think it's largely a "status" thing myself. Sure, some have enough mods they need custom tuning, most don't.

I have a truck that is otherwise near stock and likely to stay near stock, Troyer's is where I called to get a tuner for my '07 Scab 5.4. I was interested in best tuner for me. I thought I was going to be looking at custom tunes ...
... they put me onto the SC Flashpaq 1865 instead.

They promised the following on 04-08 F-150 5.4s
87oct Perf w/ 6K Tow = 25 hp and 28 ftlbs of torque at the wheels
93oct Perf w/ No Tow = 27 hp and 30 ftlbs of torque at the wheels
Heavy tow up to MAX = 11 hp and 11 ftlbs of torque at the wheels

I believe they came very damn near doing it.

Like you, change was noticeable between Troyers shop parking lot and the first traffic light before I got back on 64. Actually, even in the parking lot as I didn't mean to displace those gravels. Big change in response.

Also, as they predicted, best mileage is on the 87 tune and is a bit better than stock. The "MileageXS" tune was dismal, as they said it likely would be.

My truck had only a low restriction air intake tube from fender to stock filter box and a cat back SI/DO system. They could have easily sold me on a more expensive tuner and custom tunes and I would nt have known better in all likelyhood, but they didn't.

Without more mods, I find it hard to believe a tuner is going to find much more power in the truck.

Right on man. Well I just downloaded the level 3 program and I can tell even a bigger difference. I appreciate the comments on the custom tunes but as of right now I am very happy with the factory "canned tunes" of the Superchips. Maybe someday I will "step up" to the big boy custo, tunes LOL

Mine that I was talking about has "canned" tunes, same ones as your Cortex I expect.

I haven't tried the high test tunes (93 Octane Perf and Heavy Tow) as I have never throwed 30 gallons of high test in the tank yet. Very pleased with the 87 Perf tune.

Some say mileaga can't be better than stock, but I know for a fact it is. I tried the 87 perf tune, the mileage XS tune, and stock all on a three day trip to Indianapolis on Interstate, I was trying to stretch miles per gallons. That XS tune made the truck a dog and one had to really lean on it to get going or maintain. Stock tune was better, the 87 even better.

Either an SCT XCAL3 with custom tunes from Power Hungry Performance, VMP, 5Startuning, or Troyer Performance or a Gryphon CS or CTS with custom tunes from Power Hungry Performance.

And please take some time to read through 1) the stickies at the top and 2) the 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 0 threads on tuners (with feedback from owners).
