I just got an Edge CTS for my 2010 FX4. I am afraid to now get the cat-back dual exhaust that I have been thinking about as I have heard that may make things difficult in conjunction with a canned tune.

Fiction, sir. No catback is going to affect the tuning.

What you will find is that the transmission is not as adequately controlled as some competitor's products.

Edge is allegedly working on this. We'll see.

I'm curious, are you considering a new exhaust because you want the truck to sound louder / throatier? I don't think there is much room for performance improvement from the stock system on the '09 or '10.

I have a "case" on going with Edge related to what I think is the transmission tune (Economy). I ran that tune and got some detonation in 3rd through 6th gears. I was experiencing the pinging at 1200-1500 RPMs thinking this tune is not quite dialed in... We shall see (like you said).

 

I had major pinging with any Edge tune even when I used 93 octane. Perhaps you can get a custom tune from PHP. Oddly, Edge Tech support told me that they haven't had complaints about pinging. My pinging when pulling my 2000 lb trailer with the towing tune was like "marbles in a can", not "bb's in a can." My PHP custom tune is great.

 

Thanks for the post 2009KR, I had been considering the PHP tune. I too did not have any difference with higher octane levels.
Your post may make me get off the fence.

 

Try to put on a longer and bigger tip and that may be all it needs....
