Which tuner?
Which tuner?
2010 FX4 F150 with a 5.4. All stock
I do not need to see a display or keep the tuner permanently mounted
I want to run 87 octane
I want the trans to shift harder and downshift quicker
I want more low RPM torque and throttle response with the same or better MPG.
I want to be able to enter larger tires down the road (35")
Appreciate any suggestions. I did not know if there is a clear winner for my purposes or just a matter of opinion.

In addition to what was mentioned above I would like to defeat the traction control and speed limiter. And basically squeeze whatever power I can out the 5.4.
Thanks
Yer welcome, eh?
BTW - you indicated you wanted to see what was possible - please look here: https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...highlight=2009
This is an example of what can be done with good custom tuning - this is Bill from PHP.

Now that, sir, would qualify as opinion.

I have direct experience with TP and VMP - both are superb. TP has been in the business the longest, AFAIK.
PHP also has a significant following on here - but primarily on the Gryphon platform. Bill does do SCT tuning now as well.
All three have varying queues. VMP's turnaround is currently very quick.
My advice is to contact all three tuners; Mike Troyer @ TP, Bill Cohron @ PHP, and Justin Starkey @ VMP. Then decide.
Good luck

Thanks again! I've contacted all three. If anyone is interested I'll let you know what I end with and how I like it...

Keep us posted on your experience and who you go with. I've looked at the websites, but haven't contacted anyone yet.
I sent emails to Troyer, VMP, and PHP yesterday. Troyer and VMP replied first thing this morning and I have not heard back from PHP. Going to go with the Xcal3 from VMP, Justin has the quickest turnaround on custom tunes 1-2 weeks, Troyer was 6-8 weeks out.
