Can the stealer tell if you've used a programmer?

I'm taking my 2010 in for some maintenance on thursday and I've programmed the truck back to stock and will remove my CS from the truck completely.

Will the dealer be able to detect that I've been using a programmer?

Thanks guys. This is good news. The service engine soon light popped on atjust over 6000 kms and I don't want the dealer to make any wild accusations.

I'm not enthused about the light coming on so soon and I don't have a code reader so I have no idea what it could be. Any thoughts?

How much would it cost me to get a tool that can read these codes?

Well man depending on where you live... It sounds like to me since you use the term Kms then you must be in canada or australia. But you can go to any autoparts store and pick one up.( autozone, advance auto parts, pepboys) and or have them scan the thing for you and you can get the codes and come back here to look them up.... Just a thought! Oh and if its nothing major and they can tell you what the code means there then you can have them scan it / clear it and then take care of it.

Heres a link for you to a code reader. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...51_10051_-1___

and this one if that one doesnt work

Unless its a body or tranny code you should be able to use the diagnostic menu in the CS to get the code......

^^^ X2.

WTF, John - one of the main features of these handhelds is the ability to scan/clear most CEL's. Have a look-see in yer manual.

And, forgive me for being stupid, but- what part of "they CAN tell" is GOOD news ???/

^^^^ X3! And, you DO NOT have to "program" your truck to read the codes! Just plug the CS in, boot it and then go to the diagnostic menu. You will see the P1000 code, because you're at stock and haven't completed the "drive cycle" process, but you should also see what's causing the check engine light. (The P1000 code does not cause the light to come on).

I totally forgot I could use the CS to read codes.....so dumb. I never knew that I could actually clear codes though. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Most of the replies seemed to suggest that it doesn't matter that I was running a tuner...... which I took as good news.

Now in the event of some catastrophic failure I assume (from what you're saying) that they can go looking and find evidence. Since my truck is still running fine I'm hoping there will be no need for them to do that.

I'm heading outside to take a peak at diagnostics. Thanks for the help everybody!

So I've retrieved the following codes and got this info off of a generic site. Not sure if I'm doing this corretly:

P0605 Internal Control Module Read Only Memory (ROM) Error

Also, P2270 which I can't seem to find on www.obd-codes.com/

Where is a good place to check codes in general?

I did not spot it in the list so I googled it and got this:

Definition O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Lean Bank 1 Sensor 2

I got the same thing in a further search. This code came up after driving about 150 miles through the mountains in -20 C temps on the edge canned 87 tow tune. (I'm waiting on php tune)

I'm thinking I could probably clear the codes and keep an eye on things. I'm assuming the dealer isn't actually going to do anything about it and that the lean code was a result of all those variables at once, maybe in combination with some crappy gas. Any suggestions?
